"Do you still play outside?"

Odd title, but I want to know.
Work is boring today, my boss is now off on holiday until next year so I have little to do.
So I'm sitting there asking what I can do for anyone, and the other 2 PAs shrug. So I offer a suggestion, "Let's go outside and have adventures!" (we have about 5 acres of grounds where I work with forest and lake and stuff).

Well, apart from accepting that going out and having adventures would be excellent, someone said that they don't let their kid outside much to play, in case he gets snatched.

Now when I were a lad, me and my mates used to play out as often as possible as long as we were back before dark.
We used to play war in the forest or play in the stream and along the riverbank etc.
Does this still happen? Or do kids just stay in and play video-games now?
Why do I see small groups of them standing around outside local shops/garages at night?
Do they not have homes they can go to? Someone's house they can congregate in and plan break-ins?

Has the younger generation of today lost interest in "playing outside"? I remember there used to be up to 20-30 kids with guns and knives playing in the woods, but I just don't see that anymore.

Is it me?

Heh, I guess this is why kids don't go out till late very much anymore, unless it's to the cinema or a club.

But we still go out a lot during the day. Edwardian Club for me. {:)

They wouldn't stand much of a chance against W.Z or WBC from here in London. These guys got guns and with over 400 members in Wimbledon the police can actually do NOTHING.

I live nearish to Wickford. In Wickford there are a gang of about 30-40 lads (all 16-20) who wear strange hats and call themselves 'The Wickford Cru." They beat people for no reason. For instance, they were in a bad mood (dunno why) and there were a couple of 12-13 year olds skating at this local park. They took out their frustration on these boys, nearly beating them to death. I'm not sure why much action hasn't been taken against them really.

Soon to be the pride of division one, huh?

Nope. The streets if you go into town at the moment in London are far too dangerous. Many of my friends get questionned and ganged on by thugs who want pleasure in seeing them scared or just want to nick their mobile fun to sell it on for a tenner....
