Odd title, but I want to know.
Work is boring today, my boss is now off on holiday until next year so I have little to do.
So I'm sitting there asking what I can do for anyone, and the other 2 PAs shrug. So I offer a suggestion, "Let's go outside and have adventures!" (we have about 5 acres of grounds where I work with forest and lake and stuff).

Well, apart from accepting that going out and having adventures would be excellent, someone said that they don't let their kid outside much to play, in case he gets snatched.

Now when I were a lad, me and my mates used to play out as often as possible as long as we were back before dark.
We used to play war in the forest or play in the stream and along the riverbank etc.
Does this still happen? Or do kids just stay in and play video-games now?
Why do I see small groups of them standing around outside local shops/garages at night?
Do they not have homes they can go to? Someone's house they can congregate in and plan break-ins?

Has the younger generation of today lost interest in "playing outside"? I remember there used to be up to 20-30 kids with guns and knives playing in the woods, but I just don't see that anymore.

Is it me?

We have a term in Pembrokeshire, called Fat Jabba. It's a result of Return of the Jedi and rather obese English teacher.

You, my dear Rasta, are a Fat Jabba. :0)

I like to 'play' outside, but quite often no one is around - I think the younger generation has lost interest, but if you find friends and a good place, it is better than any computer game - ever.

So, you're 11 stone? Then again, it depends on your age. I should be 7 or 8 stone to be normal. Some people I know are 9-11 stone and are only 13. No offence if you're 13 or anything!

I've put on half a stone lately and I have more muscle than I used to. I want to be stronger, so I'm going to start pumping iron.

When I was a youngster I also used to play in the woods, make dens and hideouts etc.
I used to stay out late with my mates and there was never any trouble.
I think the kids of this generation either stay in playing computer games, watching TV etc. or they are hanging out on the streets in town wasting time doing nothing in particular.

The question has to be asked is it safe for kids to play outside along anymore?

I don't know of any gangs, but many kids like to hang out around the bus stop in Witchford.

It's not much fun, and their grafitti is very poor.
