The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
I would really appreciate it if you did just read it. I don't care how long it takes-whether you read it on the day it was posted, or whether you finally manage to finish it a month after it's posted, I don't mind. If you could just reply to it with some feedback, perhaps what you liked about the story and what you didn't, then I'd really appreciate it.
Finally, I hope you enjoy it. Those of you who have read my previous ones will know I'm based towards more of a comedy, or sci-fi type of story. This one is much more serious, and I'm not sure if it will work or not. I hope it does.
Once again I thank everyone on these forums for letting me post my stories on here, and I thank everyone who reads them, as you've taken some time out of your life to do it.
Please don't reply to this until I've posted the actual story. Thanks, Ant.
> That was rather good Ant, rather good indeed, it was just like a plot to a game,
> cool.
Still though, I hoped I would have been a lot more evil.
Point one:
> I rant and rave at Turbonutter after they completely mess up the experiment?
> What? I would have killed everyone in the room!
Point two: Put brain chips in
> the STUPID people? How dull! Put them in the intelligent ones! An army of stupid
> people will do nothing!
>Just kill the stupid ones anyway.
:0)
Ah, but the chip would be the same for everyone. The clever people would be more of an asset without the chip. The chip was for dumb people as it meant that they could be of some use.
Anyway, as I meant to say, but forgot, the story is far from perfect. There are some plot holes, some of the ideas went a little awry near the end, and I would've liked to develop the characters more. But it was already too long (as you can tell, it's in 2 parts,) so I kept it this way, which I felt was satisfactory. {:)
> Just kill the stupid ones anyway.

But then, you'd be dead!

> Dear lord that was one long story, but I have to say well done Ant.
It wouldn't have been longer than my story if only people wouldn't lose interest so quick!
LOL that was quite funny, shame i had to die. i could have gone on RBSs side.
will there be other storys?
GOod story though that was ( just check my microsoft word count for you) 13,964 words bliming heck.
:-D
This was the funniest part in which you quite rightly said was much more serious in nature:
Goatboy pressed the button on the small remote. Hopefully the button that would rid the world of this new brain chip, and hopefully spark off some sort of revolution. Not likely, but it would still be fun to watch it blow up
Hilarious :D
Emotions? It had them. An evil tyrant? It had one. A great storyline? It had one. In one word. Perfect.
> squinted through the darkness to see who was opening his cell
hahahahaha! lol!
Grix laughed, “Well, it’s a short story really. There are quite a few reasons…I knew I could do whatever I liked. The rest of Europe is in turmoil after the War, and the USA is going through another Depression. They can’t stop me, can they? But you know, when I came to power, I actually meant to be a good leader. Someone who provided the best resources and the best jobs for his people. But my biggest mission, the one thing I really wanted to do, was create something. Technology was going no where, absolutely no where! I was bored of life the way it was…it needed something new. I spent sleepless nights trying to think of something, and then it came to me.” He stared intently into RBS’ eyes, “I wanted to create the most powerful empire possible. I didn’t just want the UK, I wanted more!”
He pulled the gun from RBS’ head, confident that he wouldn’t try anything.
“If there was some way I could get people to do anything I liked, without any resistance! I could apply them to anything, it wouldn’t matter how clever they were. I told my best scientists about it, and they worked on it. Together, we came up with the Brain Chip. It really wasn’t that hard, we had the resources and the intelligence available to do it, it’s just that no one has ever used it before. I set to work on actually making it, and then the day came. I tested it on an old woman, and it worked! She would do whatever the chip was programmed to. And speaking of tests…that was when I came up with the idea. Anyone who passes the test is clever enough to be in my society…anyone who failed, would either be killed, or have the brain chip inserted. I turned kind, decent human beings into merciless killers!”
“You know what you remind me of?” RBS asked.
Grix put the gun back to his head, and twisted his head sideways. His eyes were wide, and he looked strangely demented, some would say crazy. But he was. He was crazy.
“What I remind you of? What’s that, a NAZI?? Some sort of NAZI?” He put emphasis into his words, before giggling.
“You’re right!” He said between laughs, “You’re so right!”
And then he stopped laughing. He looked at RBS with disgust, “You know what you remind me of?”
“What?”
Grix’s hand flew out from nowhere, punching him hard across the side of the jaw. RBS fell back, and clutched his face in pain.
“You remind me, of a piece of CRAP!” Grix was breathing heavily, and he leant over and slapped RBS insultingly across the back of the head. “You were the only people who defied me! You idiots! You KNOW you’re not going to win, you KNOW that one day I will get all of you, and you will all suffer very slow, painful deaths. And by the looks of it, YOU’RE FIRST!”
He pulled RBS up by the shirt, and literally dragged him out of the room. He took him to a very large room a few doors down, with wooden cabinets all around the room filled with scientific equipment. However, there was basically nothing else, which left a rather large space in the middle of the room. He shut the door behind him, before punching him again, and then dropping him on the dusty, wooden floor.
What RBS hadn’t noticed about the room however, was behind him. Three cages stood, and Grix walked over to them. He stood by the middle one and asked, “What do you think?”
RBS took his hand from his bloody nose, and stared in shock. Inside the cage was a monster the likes he’d never seen before. The creature’s skin was red-raw, and very blistered. It’s mouth was huge, full of sharp teeth, and it dripped saliva everywhere. It’s nose was peaked, and it’s eyes were narrow and…evil. There was no eyeball however…the whole of the eye was just black. It stood on it’s two back legs, both of which looked very strong, and the feet…the feet consisted of 7 claws, and at the back of them was what looked like some sort of spike, but there was liquid inside it…
Grix saw him staring at the feet. “That’s posion, by the way. If it hits you with the back of it’s foot, you’ll be in intense pain for hours before you die, as the posion slowly makes it’s way through your body the heart and brain. I’m hoping that will be today’s outcome. Also, notice the hands. As you can see, they are blistered all over, and that’s because at normal temperature they are 150 degrees centigrade. That was a small failure, as the hands shouldn’t have blistered, but we can’t have everything, can we? I wouldn’t let him touch you anyway.”
RBS was almost speechless, “Y-y-you…did this?”
“Oh yes, I created him. Me and a few close friends of mine. And I’ve been waiting to try him out…now is the perfect opportunity. You want to know what his name is? He’s called Your Honour. Why? Because he judges you…if you are a bad person, he will kill you. If you are a good person,” he smirked, “he will kill you. So you don’t really have any choice. Fortunately, he knows me very well, and won’t attack me. But you…no, he’s never seen you before. He doesn’t like you very much. He wants out, he wants out now.”
The creature, Your Honour, suddenly leaped forward. “GRRRAAARRR!!” It grabbed the bars of the cage, and began to rock it backwards and forwards.
“Yes, of course you can come out now,” Grix cooed, almost like he understood this-this thing.
Grix took a key from his pocket, and slowly unlocked the padlock on the door. He stepped aside, and opened it, freeing this monster from it’s prison.
Time seemed to slow down again…RBS looked on in horror, knowing of his impending death. The creature seemed to stare at RBS, and Grix slowly pointed towards RBS. Your Honour roared again, and then ran.
Time went back to normal, and RBS could do nothing as it speeded towards him. It leaped high into the hair, and RBS just closed his eyes, and waited.

Wookiee Monster, Grix’s Chief Guard, stood just inside the Science Department. They were on alert, as they expected trouble from the Rebels.
He was disappointed that he hadn’t received any reward for killing Aliboy. After all, he wasn’t controlled by the brain chip, he was voluntary. He didn’t even get any praise-not a thank-you in sight. But he couldn’t complain to Grix, no way. So he continued with his job, but a little more grumpily than normal.
He went through the automatic doors and looked at the three guards on patrol-Sibs, WolfHound and Tiltawhirl.
“Anything?”
“No, nothing yet sir.” Came the almost automated reply from Sibs, who was controlled by the brain chip.
PHEOW!!
A bullet whizzed past Wookiee’s head. He jumped, before regaining his composure and quickly getting out his machine gun, as did the others. He sent WolfHound and Tiltawhirl around one side of the complex, and he went round the other, leaving Sibs to guard the front. He examined the forest that was just outside, his eyes peeled for movement. There was nothing.
He cautiously headed back to the front, and was shocked to find Sibs lying there, dead.
No, not dead. He bent down and pulled a tranquilliser dart out of Sibs’ legs. Finally sure there was someone there, he went to set off the alarm. As he sprinted inside, he felt a sharp pain in his back. He fell to his knees, his whole body feeling heavy. His eyelids dropped, and he fell, unconscious.

“Good job pb, lets go!!” Goatboy led most of the group towards the front of the complex, which looked very similar to Daedeville. As with many of the government’s main buildings, it was surrounded by forest (at first it was for secrecy, but when the rebels made themselves known they knew it was a mistake, but Grix just couldn’t be bothered to build other ones.) They were met by 3 other guards (namely WolfHound, Tiltawhirl, and The Game,) but they were no trouble. Another dart was sent straight into the arm of Tilta, and he went down quickly. WolfHound had his eyes set on Starlight, but his lights were knocked out by Meka, who found a different use for his pistol.
The Game however seemed a little more intelligent, and he ran inside to try and alert everyone else. FantasyMeister aimed his gun, and shot. It penetrated Game’s arm, causing him to cry out in pain, and fall just short of the automatic doors.
“He’ll die if he doesn’t get some help soon,” pb said to the group.
“People are gonna die. But I expect he’ll get some help soon enough. I’ll knock him out so he doesn’t get through much pain,” FantasyMeister got out a tranquilliser gun, and sent Game to sleep.
“Where now?” VenomByte asked.
“We need to find Grix,” Goatboy replied, leading them into the building.

RBS waited. They say your life flashes before your eyes just before you die, but it didn’t. The only sense going through RBS’ body was a sense of relief. It was finally over.
BAM! BAM!
RBS nearly jumped out of his skin. He sat up and saw, just lying in front of him, Your Honour. Blood surrounded him, and he wasn’t breathing.
“NO!!” Came the cry from Grix.
RBS tried to clear his head, and then he looked to his right.
“Aliboy?”
Aliboy stood there, a gun in hand. He had shot Your Honour, killing him in two shots. After further examining, one shot was to the stomach, the other a lucky head-shot.
Before RBS had time to recover, Aliboy screamed, and ran straight towards Grix. He jumped on him, and began to pound on his head. Over and over again. Grix cried out for help, but there was no one coming. They were too busy sorting out the other rebels. Aliboy stood over Grix, and reloaded his weapon. He made no speech. No final comment. He just pointed it at Grix’s head, and shot. He died straight away.
In that one gunshot, the reign of terror was over. The United Party still had at least 2 years in government, and even then no one else would even dare go against them. But as of that gunshot, MJSwerve became the leader of the country, and as Meka had promised, he would do a good job. But as for now, the party could not function without Grix. It was over.
Aliboy walked straight towards RBS, and held the gun out to him. RBS took it, thinking it was to help him get out of the Science Department.
“Kill me.”
RBS was stunned. Completely speechless.
Aliboy took hold of RBS’ shoulders and said urgently, “Please Rasta, please kill me! I can’t live like this, fighting to control my body all the time. And no, you can’t fix it, this chip-you don’t know where they put it! You know nothing about it! Please, I would rather die than live like this.”
“B-b-but I’ve already killed you! I can’t do it again! I’ve killed enough lately…”
“Please Rasta! You’ll be saving me, please! Do what a real friend would. I would do it myself, but the chip may fight for control, and…” Aliboy twitched, “Please! Do it now!”
RBS, tears once again filling his eyes, put the gun to Aliboy’s head.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered.
“Don’t be,” Aliboy whispered back, a smile forming across his face.
RBS closed his eyes, and pulled the trigger.

The group were being pushed back. Already Mouldy Cheese and GasMask had been shot in the arm, and they weren’t getting anywhere. There were too many, and there was no sign of Grix.
“Right, we’ll have to use plan B!” Goatboy shouted.
Plan B was to blow it up from the outside, using something like a Rocket Launcher. It could easily fail, and would probably take lives, but they had to do it. But had Grix escaped? Was he still in there? Probably not.
They ran outside, almost to the edge of the forest, and Stryke quickly tried to set up the Rocket Launcher, while the others tried to take out the guards. Bullets were flying past him, but he had to keep going. He kept his calm and aimed for the lower section of the building.
“Hey, look!” Strafex cried, pointing towards the entrance.
RBS came sprinting out, cracking guards over the head with his gun. He was unlucky at one point however, when Wookiee Monster, who was only half-conscious, shot him in the leg. RBS limped out, screaming, “GRIX IS DEAD!! GRIX IS DEAD!! DESTROY IT NOW!!”
Stryke took his advice, but had to wait for RBS to get clear of the building. He aimed carefully, and when he felt RBS was further away, he sent the rocket flying. It smashed straight into it’s target, causing the whole building to collapse in on itself. He breathed a sigh of relief, and looked over at Goatboy. The whole group just stood in silence, apart from VenomByte and Strafex, who were trying to help the injured parties. After all the noise, the whole place had suddenly gone very quiet. It was strange, but nice at the same time.
Goatboy looked over at RBS, and asked, “Grix is dead?”
“Yes,” he said breathlessly, “Grix is dead.”
________________________________
They headed back to their home in the forest, unsure as to what would happen next. But they would keep a close eye out, and Meka was going to talk to MJSwerve at some point. It looked like they were safe…maybe they could get back to normal lives now, at least to some extent. Maybe.
Pb came over, and offered his hand, which RBS duly took.
“Perhaps you’re not as bad as I first thought. But you still haven’t changed,” he said with a grin.
RBS said nothing, still a little disorientated from the whole experience. He knew he wouldn’t get his wife and child back…he expected they were dead. If they weren’t…well, he had no idea what was to happen. He had no idea what MJ would do about the brain chip, or the tests, or anything. It would take a while, that was for sure. But he would get through it all, even if it was just to remember Aliboy. He hadn’t told the group about him yet, he was surprised they hadn’t asked. But he would do in time.
Anyway, once he got a TV, and hopefully a few videos, he’d be too busy to tell anyone anything for a while. After all, he needed to catch up on the latest series of Red Dwarf.
