No. Microsoft has said specifically that this is a console game system and not a PC, even though on the inside, it certainly looks a lot like a pared-down version of one. In fact, Microsoft is discouraging developers from including support for PC peripherals like the keyboard and mouse just to help console users feel at home.

Hmmm, yeah, I didn't know the PSX was built on PC architecture, could you give examples?

As for the Operating System, well, yes, I thought it would have had some kind of firmware, but my point was, the DC used an MS Operating System, that is what put me off!!!

Funny that the DC had many reports of "rebooting" all on it's own... rather like... Oh, my Windows based PC n'est pas?!

Well, the console was totally based on PC architecture, that made it very easy to program for, and this is what encouraged developers to join in on the PS scene and make the console a success. Hm, MS might be "discouraging" PC peripherals, but that does not mean that they aint gonna appear. People will start to ask why the Dreamcast and PS2 have keyboard & mouse, but not the Xbox.

Certainly, the hardware inside the Xbox is very close to PC architecture, and it is supposed to be easy to convert games from Xbox to PC (and vice-versa).

I think the Xbox will offer different features from a PC in the future, and be easier to use, but at heart, it is still a PC.

Anyone remember the CD32? Commodore denied it was an Amiga for years, then, finally said "OK. It's an Amiga". I think the same may happen with the Xbox.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think that having a PC in Consoles clothing is a bad thing.
