Let me just get one thing straight: I am extremely FED UP to hear people constantly critisising Linkin Park and their music, even when they've hardly listened to any of their music, let alone their album Hybrid Theory, which is amazing!!! And they certainly ARE NOT a manufactured boyband like Westlife or Nsync for example!!!!

It's hard to manufacture a group of friends who've known each other for most of their lives and have been in a band together for several years now!! The only exception is Chester Bennington, who came along to complete the jigsaw puzzle as they changed their name from Xero to Hybrid Theory. Then when they discoverd there already was a band called Hybrid Theory, they changed to Linkin Park signed up with (in my opinion) a bad choice in a record label. They could become a much heavier band, but the contract they've signed with WBA (not West Brom!!) only allows them to create certain styles of music. Yes they write everything, music and lyrics as they're no some weak pop group who need a manager while the group learns to dance with random people!!

I also hate Slipknot!!! And I think Blink 182 are gay!!! Especially after they run around naked with each other and they sound really annoying!! And how can 9 men in masks be ONE band??? That includes 4 drummers!!!!

'False acquisitions'...?

I think you mean false acusations...?

Anyway, why would true nu-metal bands defend them? Even if they aren't 'manufactered' as such, doesn't mean every nu-metal fan will like them. And still, you can't deny that they signed up with a major label, and you said yourself (I think it was you, sorry if it was someone else) that the record label wouldn't let them have creative freedom, or they could be better. In my opinion, that really is selling out. If the label won't give them freedom then they should dump that label and sign up with a real label, who don't care whether or not a CD will sell to the masses, as long as it is a good CD.

THANK YOU!! Someone who agrees with me (sort of?).

Music (nu-metal) fans would be supporting Linkin Park and defending them from these false aquisations, claiming they're a manufactured boyband, as they wouldn't believe a manufactured band could be clasified as a band creating 'nu-metal. 'It's just not possible!!!', they'd say.

If you listen to their album (Hybrid Theory) then you'd insantly know they're NOT a manufactured boyband!!

The truth is there's no way something 'so false', could create something 'so good', like 'Hybrid Theory'!!

Music that tells the listener how they are going to die is not a talent. Slipknot are pretty pants, and Linkin park aren't much better. Not that they are a death band, there just nothing new and exciting.

Tyla, I think you are mistaking 'Killed off' for infecting. These fasionable follow the crowd people, once it is unfashionable again will bog off to infect some other scene. They'll look at people still wearing the stuff, the 'true' fans and say (in an extremely irratating american schoolgirl way) "Still wearing that? It's sooooo last season."

When this stuff becomes unfashionable again we will know who the true fans are and who were just posing.

I myself do not dress in gothic clothes, or Nu-metal T-shirts, or that, but I do wear punk rock band T-shirts, but only the ones that I like a lot, like Pennywise, Bad Religion (I have almost all albums of both of them), but I am just saying that whenever fashion infects a certain scene or whatever you want to call it, it eventually moves on, and so do the 'follow the crowd cos I have no mind of my own' people.

I agree that commercializing a band kills them off! Look at Limp Bizkit. Their first album, no-one hears it, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Especially when compared with their latest one. Then came Significant Other. A few more people started to know who Limp were, outside of America, and that album's pretty good! Then, everyone knows them. And their 3rdalbum comes along with 'Pop' songs rather than Rock/Rap or Metal, like Rollin' (both versions) and one or two that are OK, but never released. On this album, the rock/metal elements seem to be missing from many of the songs. And some are 'LOUD', but the lyrics involve lots of swearing, make people laugh, and just make it sound too poppy in the end!!

I am a Limp fan and I highly reccomend 3 Dollar Bill, Yall$ as a great metal album! But they've been going slightly downhill since then, and with Wes gone, it ain't gunna get any better!! Maybe Wes left bacause of how commercialised they've become, and how their musics changed to more of a pop theme. Who knows??? He was cool, and a huge part of the band. Maybe he hates Fred Durst, just like every other human in the whole world.

They'll never be able to replace a brilliant guitarist like him!! Not even with his son (if he had one) or an exact clone of him!! Nothing's a wierd as Wes Borland.

So true... I listen to loads of music, including to affore mentioned Linkin Park but purley because of the "music".. Commercialisation is evil... it kills so many scenes off, curently one being the Goth scene... suddenly it's become fasionable and no longer a life style, all those little 13/14 year old goths who aren't even old enough to remember the true esense of Goth have killed it off completely and will be wearing something else next year!! The same goes for the Skateboarding scene... again, it's become a fasion and not a lifestyle and will soon die off when something else comes along!!

Unfortunately I also have to agree that LP are about as manufactured as they come... anything with a PR machine like theirs has to be manufactured. They may not be from their history, but the look, the style and the sound is totally manufactured... The rock scene has finally been killed off and become nothing more than just a fashion and I regret saying that as someone who's been into rock/metal/goth for over 20 years now!!
