It's the best Multiplayer RTS game there ever was. Simple as that. Released way back in 1997.

I can't compare it to Age of Empires, Starcraft of anything, because it's fundamentally different.

Yes, to play the original game without the patch, try replacing the existing exe file with this one:

I take it I can't practice and play the original game without the CD then, isn't there some sort of patch I could download?

The link on the main post was typed wrong. The 'N' and the 'S' in NetStorm need to be capitalised.
