I've seen three screenshots, available on www.nintendo.co.uk and they alone reveal these characters are racable:
(That pink thing that fires eggs from Mario Bros 2)
Baby Boswer
Baby Mario
Bowser
Daisy
Diddy Kong
Donkey Kong
Koopa Troopa (YAY!)
Luigi
Mario
Para-troopa
Princess Peach Toadstool
Yoshi
Whether these are all of them, I don't know - and what's up with the two characters on each kart? Possibly a new mode?

There's probably a copy of the unreleased "Mario's Transport Lessons" to get you aquainted witht the controls. Maybe.
Each game makes perfect sense in its own self.
Weird Nintendo.
Thing with the Nintendo universe is that nothing seems to stay continuous, and so things have to change in storylines to make sense, like the current Donkey Kong being the original Donkey Kong's son.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Mario call the princess in the Super Mario Bros movie, "Daisy"?
And wasn't she the daughter of the mushroom king?
And how, exactly, does Mario travel to these parallel universes, learn to fly planes and drive submarines, save a land in his dreams and still have weight problems?
Nothing makes sense in the world of the Mushroom Kingdom, but yet it makes perfect sense. It's Nintendo. :D

Really? I thought Daisy was Mario's bit on the side from another land.
As seen in Super Mario Land.

I don't seem to get that problem.
