Right now I'm surprised at how popular it is. The speech is really annoyingly slow, with one of the most infuriating noises ever recorded at the end of each sentence. Plus the first word of the sentence is usually said, for example "Hey" or "Hello", which is just...unnecessary.
The graphics? Great in a lot of places, in others it's merely passable. I really like some bits, especially the bird that captures Aryll at the start, but the far scenery is made out of cardboard.
The jumping kind of annoys me as well. There is no jump button, but he just jumps when he reaches the end of a platform. It removes the skill, but I guess that's not really the point of the game. That's what your going to say, right? Okay, I take that on board, but at one point I jumped off a ledge thinking it was the right place to go, only to find I'd already been here and couldn't get back up to the ledge. Surely this isn't the point either? A manual jump would've let me get onto a ladder to get back up there.
Now, I haven't got very far for two reasons - hardly any time on the game, no space on the memory card. So I can't comment on battles further into it, but the ones I have done have been incredibly easy. To the point of boredom. Even when you have to get a weapon from the opponent, all you do is stand there pressing block and wait for it to hit you. And it even misses a lot of the time.
Basically random musings here, but it seems very simplistic and Mario-ish most of the time. I'm probably the only person who will understand that, but basically it isn't a good thing. And I know most people won't have got this far because the moment they saw it was primarily an anti-Zelda thread they'll have furiously stuffed on their angry hats ready to type out an amazingly flawed and typo-riddled reply on why I'm wrong in under three seconds, and that's fine. If you want to do that, go ahead, but don't expect to get anywhere. It's all subjective, there is no proof, and a lot of people can't even tell the difference between fact and opinion.
Oh, and what's with those guard pigs who have 360 degree vision?

1st place is everything - 2nd place is nothing.
Therefore 2nd place IS crap.
Please note Blank : None of that reply is supposed to be hostile, so sorry if it comes across that way.

Little petty don't you think?
Are you trying to tell me when you see someone in the street you know, you just walk up to them and start chatting without saying hello?

Errrrrrrr no it's not.
Anything you can see in the distance you can go to in your ship, when you get closer to it you can see full detail on every island from a hell of a long distance.
Are you trying to tell me that you reckon there should be full detail on every single island from wherever you are even if the island is about a 10 minute boat trip away?
Zelda: Wind waker is one of the most beautiful games ever conceived, that's not opinion that's fact. If you can't see that then me think an opticians appointment might be the order of the day.

At the same time though you could say that manual jumping is very clumsy. How many times have you played games with manual jumping systems, run up to a ledge and watched you character plummet off the edge because you didn't press the button in time?
There's no major jumping sections in Zelda and what there is, the manual system works perfectly well with. If you can't get to a ledge, I dare say it's becuase you're not supposed to go up that way anyway.

You say they're simple yet from what i've seen you're a massive fan of the 'stand and smash the fire button' battles of Resident Evil.
> Oh, and what's with those guard pigs who have 360 degree vision?
So you're trying to tell me that if a kid sneaked up behind you in a barrel and was standing right behind you, then you would notice them?
Look mate, I understand that maybe it's not your type of game, I just ask of you that you give it more of a chance. I feel sorry for anyone who can't see it for the amazingly detailed, magical game that it is.
Stick to playing Resident Evil or something, Nintendo games obviously hold no intrest for you.
Thing is Sunshine is not excellent. There is no fanboyism here. The fact that Wind Waker is a true contender for "best game ever" is not because of it. You just got stuck in the game, it doesnt mean it's bad. I mean if that was to apply then I would rank Metroid Prime along with Gex 64 etc, but I dont. Only caus I am stuck on it in some places doesnt meant that the game is inaccessable.
Now do you understand?

Yeah?
Well you back up your 'quote' and I'll back up mine.

Nice come back. Or at least it would be if I'd ever said that. You've fallen victim to the Nintendo forum brain, that takes "not the best game ever" and translates into "crap".
What I did say was more like, "If someone's asking for advice on whether to buy Mario Sunshine or not, why shouldn't I say that I don't think it's excellent?"
