Anyone remember "PocketStation"? That was meant to be the Gameboys beater, until it was released, and never reached shores outside Japan.

The "Pocketstation" was nothing compared to a GBC. It had the same graphics as a Game and Watch (Is that what they were called).

Well to be honest it is just a mini-Playstation. If Nintendo used their current optical discs and for a proper upgrade from the GBA they'd need to increase it to just below 64 standards... GBA isn't too far off from being a PS1.

The only problem is that playing with disks means you are going to need a memory card.

Not if you have an in-built device similar to the Panasonic's tiny memory cards.
