We finished school early and all the year elevens were going down to the park. The big gate at the back of school was locked and I decided to clinb it. However the gate has large metal spikes on top of it to prevent intruders getting in and as I jumped over to the other side of the gate I snagged my trousers on the spikes and fell seven feet to the floor and landed on my head. I got straight back up, doctors told me because of the adrenaline. I stood there, not knowing what to do and I realised blood was pouring from a gash above me eye.
I took off my shirt (the one al my mates has signed) to push against the cut and try and stop the bleeding. One of my mates ran to get a teacher to unlock the gate and get help for me. I was escorted to the school medical room by four members of staff who presumed I was drunk (I was stone cold sober). My dad was called and we rushed to the LGI (Leeds General Infirmary) in a taxi.
We got there and I had to tell the doctor what day of the week etc. it was to see if I was concussed/brain damaged by the fall. I knew what the answers to the questions but my words came out as distorted sounds. I sat for a few hours in a wheelchair propperd up against my dad, who kept telling me not to fall asleep. I was in a wheelchair because I couldn't walk because I was 'in shock'.
I finially saw the staff doctor and she said because of the nature of the accident I needed to have my head x-rayed to see if my skull was cracked. Luckily it was all ok but after the x-rays I threw up blood, which isn't the healthiest of things to do. I waited another hour or so, in which the shock wore off and I could walk again, and the nurses decided my cut couldn't be glued - it would have to be steri-stripped together.
The let me home because I could walk and because I objected to spending the night in a hospital bed (I have done it before and it is terrible). I went home and slept loads and this morning I have a black eyes and my whole left side of my face is bruised and swolen. My left arm is bruised where I probably landed on it and my knee is torn open too.
Last night was my high school prom and I couldn't go, something which is sort of upsetting me. But the fact that the doctors told me I could easily have died yesterday is something I will hold dear and something that will make me think more carefully about doing stupid dangerous things in the future. I know the fact I missed the prom, have a black eye, I can't shower because the steri-strips can't get wet for 5 days and it hurts to move my left arm are all bad, but I remain with my life and it takes something like this to make you realise how precious life is.
I was always one of those people who said, "It'll never happen to me", now I am less naive. Life can be taken away in an instant because of something stupid, and I was lucky to escape relatively unharmed.
If you weren't able to unravvel the moral from my story, it is this. "Think twice before you do something dangerous, and remember, never tell yourself it 'wont happen to you' it could"
I can imagine that right now, it would be as funny as hell.
On a more serious note, when throwing up blood, does it look cool when it comes out? Is it a horrible taste when your finished and somes still left in your mouth like when you puke?
Still laughing. By the waym, has anyone seen Parr around lately because I can't remember seeing him since he had that topic about the tile.
People do silly things and that my friend was rather silly.
If you were drunk then maybe...But sober. If you weren't bleeding so much your friends would probably still be laughing about it.
> but the last few paragraphcs sounded like somehting out of the 'Wonder > Years'.
Hahahahaha.
:-D
I recently had a near death experience (well it could of been). when i was biking home a load of townies managed to get hold of some kinda of mountain climbing pick, and they was swinging it at people. It just managed to hit me below my shoulder on my back. I was of course pretty scared by this and almost fell off my bike, but i continued home.
Also last week a brick was thrown at me, by the same townies in the face. It hurt, but only bruises appeared( but it was one of those yellow ones).
So after all this we reported it to the police, and the school, AND WAHEY they're all expelled from school.
Just thought i'd let you know.

hahaha, was funny until the 'could have killed me' bit. Then I stopped laughing.
Hmmm I ran into a pole at school once which could have killed me.
Running to shops past the PE building which has scaffolding up... sky was cloudy and blended in with the grey poles. So I legged it round when a pole that was further out and the rest suddenly appeared infront of me... BOOOOOOOOOOM hit me in the chin and I hit the ground. If I was a bit taller it could have killed me by cracking off my neck or something.
