If you're intending on going to Uni, try and pass before you do. I only jsut did and am really glad. I dont have a car and have only driven my dad's a few times since, but it's just a weight off your mind, knowing you wont have to start again the next summer etc. My mate had four lessons before coming to Uni and will have to wait till the summer till he can carry on learning...

I was 17 a whole 9 days ago :-D

I don't want to smash my car up on wet/icy roads :-(

I was 17 a whole year ago and a bit more now, but only really started driving lessons around about August i think. Pretty soon (God forbid) I might be having driving lessons in icy conditions.

I started learning September '04 and I only managed to have 1 lesson in the dark which was naturally over Xmas. Learning over Summer really helps, plus you'll never get tested in the dark. I passed this September, almost a year and 2 failed tests after I started...

I'm trying to avoid driving in the dark at the moment - tisn't great when you've only had 2 lessons :-D - but it's starting to become inevitable. Either I go on Wed afternoon when I finish college early but may be working on soon, or I go Saturday morning which my instructor can't always do. Gay. Plus going out in between with my mum/dad is getting more difficult as it'll be dark at 4 soon. *weep @ October birthday*. Ah well, if all goes to plan I'll be driving by/during Easter so I can't whinge too much. Once I get a bit more experienced, driving in the dark/semi-light will be handy.

I'm tackling roundabouts in Norwich currently! :D

But for my next lesson my instructor advised that I put the time for my future lessons back a bit in the day so that I can practice driving in the dark (cool!) and also got an application form for my Theory. Haven't sent it off yet though. I'm still reading up on it.

Tonight With Trevor Mcdonald was on the other night, and normally I turn it straight over, but this particular time, the topic discussed was really interesting! It was called "Drivers Fight Back" and discussed how drivers who have been caught speeding or fined for parking offenses have got a refund by using minor misled technicalities in the law.

Example: Yellow lines = no parking, unless they don't end in a vertical yellow line at each end. if they don't end in this yellow line, then they don't exist lawfully, and you can thertefore park on them!

*starts to mix up some Road Tip-ex*

Yeah, I know, I meant that I've not actually been on one yet & I don't fancy doing that until I get taken on one with my instructor :D

Technically you can go on dual-carriageways, but not motoways on yo' provisional. I remember driving all the way from Derby to somewhere in Suffolk before I'd even passed my test, good thing it was all dual-carriageways. Man sitting in a traffic jam in Grantham is painful...
