Table updated after the end of the 2nd round. Alfoncy, despite predicting Honda scoring first in a 2-0 Paraguay win got a perfect score on the Spain/Portugal game putting him right back into the mixer. It's not over for everyone else yet though with the upcoming bonuses coming up the title could be anybodies!

So it is written down, and for the benefit of dav, here is my plan for bonuses in the last 8 games. I have tried to weight it so everybody has something to play for come the final on July 11th.

Scoring in the Quarter Finals (2-3rd)
- Standard scoring for score, result and first goal-scorer
- Bonus points will be awarded, on top of those above, for the number of correct results, not scores, over the two days. Points will be awarded as follows:
2 games correct - 1 point
3 games correct - 3 points
All 4 games correct - 5 points

Scoring in the Semi Finals (6-7th) and Third Place Play-off (10th)
- Standard scoring for score, result and first goal-scorer
- You will also be required to predict the period in which the first goal will be scored, from the following categories:
0-15mins
16-30mins
31-45mins
45-60mins
61-75mins
76-90mins
ET1
ET2
No goal

2 bonus points will be awarded if you get this correct. For arguments sake, the minute listed as when the goal was scored on the BBC Football website will be used, no other report or media will be used. Also, if a goal is scored in first-half injury time this will be included in the 31-45min period, the same will apply to second half injury time.

Scoring in the Final (11th)
A.K.A. The 'lots of bonus points' game

- Standard scoring for score, result and first goal-scorer
- You will also be required to predict the period in which the first goal will be scored, as explained above: 2 points.
- A prediction for the first yellow card of the match: 2 points.
- The method of the LAST goal of the final, excluding a penalty shoot-out:
Open Play
Free-Kick
Penalty-Kick
Corner-Kick
No Goal

To prevent arguments, the decision on when a corner-kick period ends will be decided by myself, Warhunt and whomever else in Freeola Support saw that passage of play. However, as a rule of thumb, if the majority of players are still in the box after a corner is cleared, this will still count: 2 points
- Finally, as a little extra bonus, I would also like a prediction for the minute of the first goal, again as published by BBC Football, closest to this time, wins: 3 points

14 points will be available from this one game.

These rules will be listed in the original post for reference and bonus points will only apply for the rounds listed above.

Haha...noticed it the other day, but didn't worry too much! But thanks DL/Butch.

Just read in the paper that Blatter has re-opened the case for goalline technology after admitting that the referees were awful. FIFA have apologised to both Mexico and England for the errors that probably changed the momentum of the game and said they would consider using technology in the future.

In other news...Sepp Blatter has also just come out of hospital after a failed hit-and-run attempt. Police say they would look into matters but said they weren't allowed to use the CCTV footage to see whether it was intentional or not... :p

Because everybody got very similar points yesterday and I hadn't realised he had moved up. Fixed now though.

Nice one Garin and totally expected :¬) pointless.. possibly not, no basis..I doubt it very much :¬)

@technology issue - every ground has a mega large screen at each end of the ground - everybody, including the officials will see and would have seen the issue :¬(

@Butch, why is HM below me in the league table...I've apparently got 33 pts and HM has 34 pts?

I don't have a problem with this. The 'predict during certain periods' thing was simply for my convenience anyway.

My position at the top of the table is there for the taking. I'm on holiday from Friday and won't have email access. I'll miss out on all these valuable bonus points and I'll have to submit all manner of predictions to cover all eventualities of the remaining games, provided I'm permitted to do so.

I think that is why they want to leave it out. I am certain some games are rigged. I've seen a game where a player has handballed it off the line and then gone to the other end and scored Maradonna "hand-of-god" style, causing a 2-2 tie here it should have been 3-1. I've seen a player get throttled before being held to the ground and be strangled, earning himself a red card for the pleasure - in the same game we scored a perfectly clean goal (but as you can guess disallowed) and they won an overly soft penalty... Sometimes it is too obvious.

Back on topic though, the cup should still remain interesting - the way the table is divided you'll have some draws of Brazil, Germany and Argentina - so that will be great to watch (providing the ref is decent enough to take control and know the rules...)

I'm only 8 off the top by the looks of things, so still can make a move for top place...a mid-table performance for a person of my stature is not enough...but I guess as long as I avoid relegation all is good ;)

Apparently Blatter will be bringing goal-line technology to the table in the FIFA meeting in July, for further discussion and probably another vote. Should be interesting, but i'm fairly confident it will stay as is.

It's not even like the technology doesn't exist already, tennis and cricket have been using 'Hawkeye' for years now. The creator of the technology has said before he already has plans in development for a chip to be placed inside the ball which will alert the referee, via a sound in his earpiece, half a second after the ball crosses the line...

*sigh* Oh well...

Table updated from yesterdays games. If you are a little of the top, don't give up! With only a few games left I'm looking at bringing in some bonus points as we draw to the end of the tournament!
