The game forums are closing, so i am moving the popular FF forum here. No spamming, just 100% FF. Let's start with a question.... which of the FFs is the best?

First of all, the greatest game of them all would have to be the first one for nintendo. What can I say I'm a sucker for the classics. Now i was flipping thru some of these peoples comments and they say they actually liked ff8?! I don't know how anyone could like that game, it bored me, aggravated me and in general ticked me off because i wasted my money on it. That is all, oh and if anyone has played ff x-2 tell me about it, I've read reviews and i must say I'm not too sure about it.

I wasn't into 9 as much as the other PS1 games. I didn't mind the visual style of the game but I found the plot got a bit ... well, naff once Garland was introduced. Did like the character abilities and the 4 people in a party idea, PLUS it was the hardest of the FF PS1 games I have to say. The world map was a bit unbalanced, the actual fights were slow and there weren't really any MASSIVE bosses in it.

FF8 had some wicked set pieces, everything from the plot to the music to the characters was perfect. The Squall/Seifer rivalry was fantastic, the entire progression to become a member of SeeD was lovely. The first mission that goes horribly wrong, the big race to stop Garden getting blown up. The battle of the Gardens. So much fun! I loved the card game too. I DID find that if you assigned people specific GFs to use rather than unjunctioning and bolting on loads every time you form a new party, they were a bit wimpy until you got to Esthar and started buying extra things like Str-J abilities. I'm dying to get this game back, and if it comes out on the PSP, I'd be in heaven.

FF7 also had perfection, wicked cyberpunk setting, good characters and plot mechanics. I personally think the series has been getting weaker as it goes on. Ok, maybe the gameplay mechanics have got better, but the story just isn't as grand as it once was. I loved FF10, but I'd just like to see them go down a more cyberpunky route again. I'd love it if they did a spin off series which was created using Manga style cel shading or something. Nice and futuristic.

And the chocobos go "KWEH!"
Which is obviously better than "WARK!"

I'd agree with that, but sometimes you don't need epic.
If someone's never played an FF before, I'd start them on 9.

Hmm, I don't rate FFIX in the same league as VII and VIII. Just doesn't have that same epic feel to it.
