The game forums are closing, so i am moving the popular FF forum here. No spamming, just 100% FF. Let's start with a question.... which of the FFs is the best?

When I saw pictures of FF7 I was unsure if i'd like it (I was innocent believe me- I didn't know much about FF and role play- a lot of people seemed to critisise it- how wrong they are!!!). The animation of the characters made me have doubts as I prefer FF8 and FF9 look. I borrowed it off a friend and I instanly loved it. In the end I made the humane desision and got it just before FF8. I waited for FF7 to turn platinum (2 whole weeks!!!) I should've bought it and it when it came out.
Anyone who doesn't have FF7,8,9 should get them. They will last you for ages and everything is good about them.

Inevitable question:

If you were to buy one FF game before FF10, which one would it be (I guess number 7 by the posts below).

In FF9 each card a random attack and defence (within a given boundary and was hard to tell if you were putting down the right card. The result was hard to tell. In FF8 you would know if you were going to win or lose because there was one strength per side and an attack could be made from 4 sides only. In FF9 there are 8 sides (some don't have arrows so the card is won straight away). There are few all-round strong cards too in FF9 and because the same stats applied to each side it is hard to protect them.
All of the above are perhaps down points but it makes it hard to do which I like and with experience you can win every time but the one thing that perhaps everyone will agree on is the rule where the cards linked to arrows of a newly captured card are captured aswell. A weak card (A) could capture another weak card (B) but also a very strong card (Invincible for example) because it was used to capture (B) in the first place. People who have played it will know what I mean.
FF9 is perhaps not the best of the FF's but it's still a great game.

the card game in 9 was worse than 8 i think. 9's card game was more random and stuff and you had to hope that it'd work unless you put your card to a very weak opponents. least with 8 you knew if you were going to take your opponents cards or not

Some of the other mini games are good too. What about Hippaul's race and the skipping? I've got maximum in both put inbetween I had to take a break because the button pressing is extreme isn't it? Minigames aren't meant to be compulsory but I find they're great. They don't interfer too much with the main game and they're a big part of the Final Fantasy touch. What does everyone else think about the mini games?
