The game forums are closing, so i am moving the popular FF forum here. No spamming, just 100% FF. Let's start with a question.... which of the FFs is the best?

Na, I'm referring to middle ground opponents, loke those around the Thunder Plains, for example. The fiends in Zanarkand are also easier than the first time round, where my HP for each character was sub 5000.

Hmmm, I take it you don`t spend much time fighting the big bad guys then? I`m sure you`ve done so in the past, but to return to fighting midgets is pointless. The stuff in the monster arena is not killable in one turn no matter what you use, with stuff like Ultima Buster and Nemesis having 5 million and 12 million HP.

I've payed the gamefor just under 200 hours now (yeah, 200), and guess what? I'm really bored - I have almost everything now, and every battle seems so easy and can usually be ended in one turn.

Yeh, going through as fast as possible can sometimes lead to a lack of experience, but if you`re up to 55 hours, you should have become very strong already - unless you`ve spent about 20 hours on Blitzball. If you are spending lots of time in the blitz, remember that to get all the limit breaks for Wakka and the Jupiter Sigil, you`ll have to fight a certain number of battles, so it doesn`t matter how much you play, you`ll have to fight as well.

> What happened to your studying young man? :-D

It started yesterday. I`m back up at uni now, and the studying has begun again. I`ll keep doing a little FFX from time to time, but none of the 4 hour sessions that used to be done over the summer.

Thats strange. Have you been switching the characters around or do you always use the same few? If you use the character switch mid-battle, you can make it so that every character gains full AP (as long as they do some sort of action whilst they are in play). This means you can build all the characters together.

To build up to fight Sin, you need to be nearer the end of the game where the experience is better. Evrae should be easy now that you`ve battled for a while. Sin is a one hit kill if you spend time in the monster arena later on.

Are you sure thats not 650 thousand? I mean, the money I saved is from a lot of gameplay, with high rewards from Mimics (50k for a regular kill, more if you use designer wallet). I`d be very impressed if you had 6.5 million gil, but not much AP.

Ah, fair enough. Its quite important though if you really want to get as much as you can out of the game. The celestial weapons, in partiuclar Wakka's rely heavily on blitzball, and so does Wakka's overdrive. An attack reels with Wakka's World Champion weapon can take off 1.2 million.

Without Wakka, I`d be using Tidus's slightly weaker overdrive, and Anima's Oblivion, but there are certainly drawbacks with oblivion. If you use it, then there is a large delay after the attack as the aeon recovers, plus there are no other characters around to pick up the pieces or use entrust. With Wakka, you can use the overdrive, and then protect him with the other two party members, and use the entrust ability to give his overdrive bar a total refill.

Oh. My. God.

Has anyone seen the poster of FFX: Another Lord (FFX spin off) from The TGS yet?

Jesus.

It shows Yuna. Holding a pistol. In hotpants. Made of denim. And looking over her shoulder. Basically, she looks just like Lara Croft.....with a bit of a cape thing on. Good God, it looks terrible. I really am scared. It looks like a joke, and I want to believe it is,but I know it isn't.

55 here. I've spent 55 hours and 27 mins on X and 55 hours and 30 mins on VIII :-D

I got that with the ice-demons on 9.

Wakka is my least developed character. Tidus and Auron hit for 4,000 (ish) yet Wakka hits for 800 :-)

I've been in the airship for at least 10 hours. Haven't re-tried Evrae yet, tying to get it to a point where I can't lose against Sin, yet alone Evrae.

I ahve collected over 6 and a half million in my training in the airship alone :-).

I hated it anyway. Don't think you can access it from the airship, but I usually just play against the ronsos for a laugh.

If you keep skipping for a ludicrous amount of time you get a great card and many more items that will help at that stage in the game. The trick is to press X the instance you see the !. I got up to 14 :-)

Because the other Final Fantasy thread isn't going anywhere, I thought I`d repost this, and add a few extra bits while I`m at it.

I`m still really enjoying the Final Fantasy 10, despite having spent over 100 hours on it now. I`m in the process of redesigning the sphere grid to suit myself. Getting rid of +1, +2 and +3 attribute nodes and replacing them all with +4. Its a long winded process, but at least its much quicker moving around the sphere grid the second time, as you can move four spaces for each S-level.

The main challenge really is fighting the Earth Eater. He's not a tough opponent, as Wakka's Overdrive followed by a few hits from other characters will take him out with little difficulty, its just annoying that you have to fight him so often. For every one luck sphere you add to the grid, you have to win 7 fortune spheres, which is a lot of fighting seeing as you have to raise their luck levels from 20 to 255.

At least the rewards are good. The fights against those Original Monsters gain you 50,000 AP, which can be combined with Wakka's Double AP on his celestial weapon to make 100,000. If you`re willing to rely on Wakka, then that means you can make the rest of your characters earn triple AP to really boost their levels.

With AP in good supply, and the ability to use distillers on Kottos to gain 40 of your chosen sphere I have found myself constantly fighting in the arena, and have probably not left for about 6 straight hours of play. I think this might be a good thing too as it will make the whole thing even more exciting when I do leave the arena.

The other nice thing about the amount of fighting that has been done is the amount of gil that has been collected as a result. I have about 8 million, which should be plenty to bribe a few Malboros into handing over some Wings to Discovery. They`ll come in handy to give each character the break HP limit ability. It takes long enough fighting the Dark Aeons over and over to get Ribbon, let alone waiting for ribbon AND break HP limit. I was lucky once, and got two birds with one stone, but I haven`t had the patience to wait since then, and will rely on money.

I haven`t played a single game of Blitzball for ages now though. Since getting the Jupiter Sigil, I haven`t found myself wanting to take part in matches at all, despite liking the game a great deal. I guess I want to keep progressing rather than spending more time in an area that will not yield anything significant.

The Celestial Weapon that took me the longest to fully upgrade was Kimahri's. That stupid butterfly hunt really got on my nerves. I could see exactly how to make the time without problems, but in one of the two areas I just kept hitting a red butterfly on the final corner. I eventually figured out how to get between the two, but it took forever, and I definitely gave up a few times in between.

I haven`t actually taken on Nemesis yet though. I still have to capture a few more Tonberrys of each type yet. To be honest though, I don`t know if I`m ready yet. My luck values are still down at 50, and I`m told its best to be up at the 200 mark. If I manage to get hold of the Tonberrys sometime I`ll definitely give it a go, but so far there is nothing I can do. The same goes for Penance, as I haven`t yet taken down all the Dark Aeons. Its certainly a lot more rewarding beating them without Yojimbo's Zanmato, but a lot harder! I tried Bahamut today, and was feeling quite confident until he used his Impulse attack. I realised a few moments too late that the characters using ribbon weren't in my party, with the exception of Auron whose health was so low that he was taken out anyway. Ah well! :D

One last thing - the cactaur hunt. I don`t know what I would have done without "No Encounters". Would have been a nightmare. As for the challenge itself, it wasn`t too bad, though I admit I messed up on several occasions, and sometimes had to reset to correct the mistake. However, it was quite a fun challenge if you let yourself enjoy the silly cactaur jokes - I particularly liked the philosopher's theory that digging in the sand help.

Anyway, not much else to add, and certainly nothing of interest, so I`ll stop there.

Ach, you have to go on for years.
You get cards, but I think you can get them somewhere else as well.
At the end you get crowned king of skipping or something.

I got a question to anybody with FF9

at the beginning when your skipping with Vivi and those three girls, do you get anything from it if you get a lot of jumps? if so what is it and how many jumps required?
