Right. The web design forum here needs a website, for posting all sorts of advice, links, news etc. A "community" website. It should be interactive and fully display the best of our skills. So:

Coding - Me, cjh and ajh. Basically anyone who can.

Site design and layout - Reaper and Tyla. You guys work together on it. Give me a final layout as a Fireworks file and I'll take it from there

Content - Andy/Bob, and everyone else here

We need some webspace, I'll get some at Freedom2Surf once their servers come back online. They're a very good server for what we want to do. If anyone else wants to help out, that's great.

Any more suggestions would be welcome.

Here is a question as u said no to Message Board, how would people ask for help if they don't know that we post here?

And I know of posting boards where people posts a question and sets up a email notification when a person replys to there message. That way they can do other stuff.

But with writing the script idea, how about also offering a service to modify any PHP/CGI script if they can not do it, or even rewrite a pre excessing srcipt to work with another script. But if we do that, then we will have to becarefully as some scripts we are not allowed to modify at all.

Ok, then other departments might do there own research but what about users of the website. They might be looking for some information/script but don't know where to start. So some of the people in the research department could go off and look for the script or information that they might b looking for. As I know that I have find information when other people been looking for it couldn't.

How about an area in the PHP/CGI Section where people can "Suggest a Script", which does certain things, we'll (try) and create it an put it on the Site?

I've got a few ideas in my head at the moment. There could be beginner tutorials on how to create an animation but there could be more advanced tutorials punching to create corners.

Just let me know when you need them for or if there is anything else I could do.

I will be able to help with the HTML and Javascript departments. I may also be some use to the Flash department as well because I am in the middle of learning this.

I could also do some tutorials on different aspects of Fireworks.

I think most of the research would be done by the seperate departments, and as this is the SR PC Forum website, i dont think we need a messageboard. When I say departments I mean:

Hardware (Currently me and reaper)
HTML
PHP
CGI
Flash
Graphical
Programming

etc etc etc, remembering that this isnt just a Web Design forum, its all aspects of PCs.

I would not mind helpping out on a message board if we do have one for the website. Or even doing research on some stuff for the website departments. As u could have a research department that could look for stuff that could b included on the website.

OK, after a brief meeting between myself, turbonutter and reaper, we have decided on the following:

Name:WebTech
Colours:light blues, and grey/white

More details to follow people, in the mean time please post what you'd like to do (which departments etc) in the order you'd like to do them.

Cheers

Folks, I have registered communities.freeola.com, so that part is sorted, we still need a short, catchy name.

Is someone going to start work on a layout template?? I think that would be easiest and then stick them online somewhere and let everyone fill in the templates with info.

Personally, I'm still thinking of a name, I liked my ideas of Technet and HelpForPillocks.com, but those have been ruled out.
