The fact is that the Dreamcast was, and still is, a great console. The range of games, and especially the originality of those on offer, is second to none. This cannot be disputed... even the most avid PS2 fans will admit the DC has a great assortment of games.
Likewise, the Xbox has a lot to offer. If anything, Microsoft have the upper hand in this console "war". When Sony created the PSX, they produced a console extremely easy to develop for, with great support and cheap development prices. This is what got them where they are now.
Microsoft have learned from this. They have produced an extremely powerful console that is easy to develop for. On top of that, they have not forgotten about the games- buying Bungie (makers of Halo), was one of the most comitting moves ANY company has ever pulled off in the industry. They have some great support from all the American developers, and have cleverly opened the Japanese developers wide open for the Xbox to be seen as a great conole.
Meanwhile, Sony have made some huge mistakes. The console was too revolutionary- it's simply so hard and expensive to develop for that not as many developers as were expected have stuck solidly to Sony. Had Sony spent more time on the drawing board, and speaking to developers, maybe they would have more Sony-only developers.
Saying that, both Sony and Microsoft have put on good shows... Sony have their developer support service back on top form, and MS are pumping money to get developers the resources they need.
If I had the money, which console would I buy?
Well, both dummie!

also i'm not saying i won't get an x-box just cause it's bill gates in my post i said i might get one if it has enough quality titles and relatively cheap but some people have already said they aren't getting one just for the simple fact bill gates has got a hand in it
anyway the major con i

Thats a stupid reason not to get the xbox but its your hard earned so use it the way you want to. But one thing I can say is that there are many people who like Windows as an Os for their PCs so even thogh we are filling his pocket with GOLD we do get a good os in return. There many people out their in the real world who'll choose thw windows os over any other. Plus there are also loads of useful Pc software from MS.
Oh and there also other people like Mr. Ken Kutaragi san who fill their pockets with GOLD but in return we are satisfied with what he has to offer.
> Yea but have sony haven't monopolise a market have they its not like the other
> consoles had a chance did they?
yep sony have earned their way to being quite dominant in the console market. they've had the best developers and best designs over the other consoles and have beaten other more powerful consoles. now with an equally powerful console i wouldn't be surprised if they went from strength to strength
The X-Box has some games which dont really strike me as 'Oh
> my god, these are awesome'. Halo??? They've taken the Resi games, well no loss
> for the PS as they've had all four.
actually nintendo's gamecube is going to get the resi evils not the x-box
anyway the major con i think about the x-box is those 2 little words - Bill Gates. I think people may not buy a x-box just for that simple fact. we've already lined his pockets enough with gold without giving him more but that said if the consoles good and there's enough high quality titles coming out for it and it's not totally expensive then i might get one
There is no right console to buy, each has there pro and cons and it all depends on what you want and when you want it. If you want a console now, get PS2, other wise if you want wait for the others.
>But if
>Sony made good consoles then why do we have to pay extra >for the Hdd and modem?
Maybe because they werent sure whether it was useful or not but since MS was doing it they decided to do the same, to make extra profit from loyal PS2 fans.
