Ok, I am now in the fire temple... so what's the difference? I know the dungeons are meant to be harder, but can someone give me an example of something? I haven't played OOT since I completed it when it came out, but MQ doesn't seem to have anything different!

Must Be Drunk. The enemies AI is simply the best in Wind Waker... i'd go as far to say best yet, the hand thing throws the bombs back at you, the skeleton losses its arms, each character searches for its weapon and if they're unable to find them they'll use whatever else comes to hand. The combat system is ten times better, some of the puzzles with the leaf, the phantom ganon thing at the end, the wind temple etc... injects a nice new Zelda element... the leaf alone does it.

As for mini games there is hundreds I spent multiple hours sorting them out... from the 2 battle ship games, shoot the fish, various trading sequences, the letter sorting, hide and seek with the children, water the didi deku trees, The auction, the nintendo gallery, the boat jumping game, the flight platform to the puzzle in your cabana or whatever it is... etc...

It is shorter and the epic feel isn't as in full force but the return to Hyrule was heavily nostaligic and the fludity of movements and fun makes it easily brilliant.

Just completed the Fire temple... and I haven't explored most of it - just got to the bit where you bash the column so that you can get across to the boss door. I'm guessing I haven't freed all the gorons? Is it worth doing?

As for Windwaker.. my drunk review of the game as compared to Oot:

It's aweful. Very few enemies throughout the game, repetitive ideas, far less mini games (which are far less fun), short, less epic...

The game is fun, but there's not much to it. The diversity of enemies and bosses in OoT, mixed with the epic adventure behind it all makes OoT unbeatable

Half the music was stolen from ALTTP... in fact bar the used before Song of Storms I wasn't a mad fan on OOT's music because it was all taken from ALTTP.

Personally I always thought the music in Oot was the best ever, however, I haven't played any of the Zelda games on the SNES.

It might seem like I am anti WW but rest asssure I will gladly defend it against other wannable attempts. I have seen one moblin with his friend walk across a bridge, and in typical comical fashion the one behind knocks the one in front over etc. I laughed at multiple stages like that, I couldnt even remember if OOT produced a smile, very unlikely.

Back to basics, those little quirks in the game does improve the overall game and makes everything round off on a very promising note. Then your thinking "why does he argue against?"

The fact that I cant shake the feeling that the Zelda Universe and all it's intentions are better reporoduced in OOT than in WW. Sure WW is more advanced being on a better console, but if both games are compared relativley OOT does accomplish what it is intended for than WW. Frankly an overhaul in graphics and a slight variation in the games plot does not place it above OOT in terms of greatness. For there has been major improvements over the Snes version.

To conclude most games nowadays drill down to one final factor which is one of the most vital elements in game success.

Originality

I accept the fact WW has come in leaps and bounds in make stick it's protest against convention graphics presentation, but when the game overall barely struggles to reproduce an original "skelton" I would rate WW as highly as most of you do.

More of rate it what it should.

That's the general Zelda style, going back to Link to the Past (and presumably before). LttP had by far the best music of all the Zelda games - OOT was a real disappointment in that respect. Majora's Mask and Wind Waker both have moments of aural beauty - the observatory and under the clock tower from the former, the Kings palace in the latter, but neither match up to the epic SNES soundtracks.
