Exactly.

But Metroid Prime is nought like the other games.

Wind Waker is series, so's Metroid...
But yes, there are a lot of completely original and innovative games past, present and future.

Indeed it is.
> A lot of those are Capcom though.
Of course Nintendo got those games on their console by merley fluttering their eye lids.
Pikmin was original, as was Animal Crossing, as was Luigi's Mansion, Zelda had an original twist, Metroid Prime was original... Giftipia will be original as will the new Final Fantasy game... and so forth... there is a lot of original titles past and present on the cube I won't have you say otherwise.
I was very tired when I wrote what I wrote earlier and I'm not reading things properly.
Giftipia is looking mighty interesting though :-D

official confirmation of MP2 at E3 and that they are working on another game.

Plus Giftipia, Geist, Double Dash, Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, Viewtiful Joe, Product Number 03, Dead Phoneix, killer 7 etc...

Not at all. I'm not criticising the development of sequels to original games, but I do question the need for Fifa 2001,2002,2003,2004... and countless shoddy James Bond titles. Pikmin 2 is a great idea, as is Mario 128, but meaningless follow ups, usually within a franchise are pointless.

How much have you heard from them after Metroid? Rumours of MP2 and that's it.
Giving Silicon Knights

Oh, my bad on that one :-)
But look at that list of studios. Think of how many games had published on the GC so far, then look at the astronomical list that EA have. Nintendo promised us that the GC would feature original, innovative games and few sequels. What have we had? The EA franchises, updates of MGS and RE and confirmation of Pikmin 2.
