i expect from a marketing standpoint snagging Resident Evil was a better thing than getting FF.

Goldeneye 2 will shift some consoles, it does seem like Nintendo are doing their 'late starter' thing again. At least as far as exclusive and multiplayer FPS games anyway.....

Mabye they already see the Gamecube as the 'transition console' where they hang back, make some changes and then come out all guns blazing with a new image etc on the next one.

Everyone's playing for the long-term benefits remember.

Meh. Final Fantasy WOULD have appealed to a great many people with it's cult status.

I too like a company with morals but I don't like being treated as second rate customers (which is what Europe is, to be honest). Nintendo can do whatever the hell it likes in Japan certainly; America too but to a lesser extent but in Europe... Well OK Britain atleast Nintendo are losing customers all the time. The patience of people is running out and many are defecting. Nintendo NEED to advertise, loyalty can only stretch so far.

The only reason I complain is because I hate to see Nintendo shooting themselves in the foot, getting caught with their trousers round their ankles and then shatting on their own doorstep. They don't DESERVE to fall lag behind the other two consoles. It's good that, after years of reigning supreme in the console and handheld market that they're finally being challenged, this could and, to a point has, incite Nintendo to really pull some great things out of the bag, but they haven't risen to the challenge. They're shrugged it off and gone about business as usual. The fact of the matter is, no matter what sales say, they aren't the kings of the games world anyway. They could be, but their laziness, stubborness and general dismissive attitude towards all and sundry is dragging them down.

To be honest, and unless Nintendo screw up and lose their handheld market dominance, they can do what the hell they like. I like a company with morals and opinions that it 'should be done THIS WAY'. They're like apple, nice to have around.

And as for FF at launch? Wouldn't have made me buy it.
