Okay, an absolute torrent of entries for this one, it too ka good couple of hours to read them all, and I had to kill several trees for the paper to print them all out, so no moaning about the winners.

Winner of a game of his choice - mickey, for his suggestion of a 'Gameaday Receipt' idea, of which many of you suggested, but mickey got their first. Well done, mickey.

Runners up prize of a DVD of his choice goes to Aliboy, for his 'Santa' idea. It's well put and a nice festive idea, so it's definitely worthy of a prize. Congrats.

Thanks to everyone for all your entries, we read them all and found them to be very useful. Peace out, and complaints to the usual address. Cheers

Ali

Extra GAD prize here for those with a creative brain to help us with our marketing and promotions.

1. Don't suggest any alterations to the site design. Don't suggest expensive campaigns.

2. Suggest how we can attract more visitors to the site from within the pages of our Club Magazine and our adverts in the specialist press such as PC Gamer.

3. Remember space is very limited. But you can enter this with something as simple as a change to the wording which we already use.

Below is an example of the type of thing we are looking for:

Headline
So, what do you say boys?

Also, how about a word of mouth reward system. Not many of my friends around here that are into computer games have easy net access, but I try to get them to come. I know we have a few people on here that are from the same parts of the country, but I'm sure more could be encouraged.

If you offered the people who are already here something for spreading the word to there friends and so on, that might bring more people here.
Say if someone mentions me when signing up to SR, then you could give me something for bringing you customers (I'm not talking about games, but Reddies or something?)

This would also push the interst in Reddies up thus acquiring you more members and more sales.

I'm a genius!
(or that might be the most stupid plan ever, I don't know?)

If the change of direction is acceptable, what lots of companies seem to be having success with is getting existing customers to bring in their freinds, family etc.

SR could work it as such:
If an existing customer were to refer a new customer to the company, who then bought membership and a product (ie, to be entitled to a free gift), the member who referred them here could also chose a free gift.
Maybe it'd need a cheaper selection of gifts to be economical, I'm sure you guys are more than capable of handling the details.

All in Cartooon style.

The idea being that SR sell their games at extremely low prices giving customers brilliant deals.

The first caption must be big, bright and bold to catch the attention of potential customers, it's a well known fact that people flick through magazines so this will grab their attention and the littel text to read will mean they will no doubtedly read it because their isn't much and that way the message will get through easily.

That my friend is a cr...brilliant plan. I would like to be your manager, as to get loads of mon...I mean, advise you on what to do when you make it big............................How does 40% of profits sound?

Well seeing as the maximum amount of profit I could make from this idea is "a" game. I think that giving you a 40% cut in the profits would be difficult.

But thanks for the offer anyway, I'll be in touch :-)

Sometimes words can be harsh on the eye, so why not get rid of that plain white background on the pages, replace it with a snazzy background, like a watermark of the SR logo, and put more pictures with less text.

But then, you would have to be more to the point than you already are to make less text and give the same impression.

Yesterday, for the first time since befroe a site redesign, i think, i bought some stuff from SR on the web site.
Not exactly difficult, but it could have been a little easier in a couple of respects. In this fickle world maybe that's pretty important.

1. After putting something in the basket, then going back to look for something else, it took a little searching for the link to get back to the basket. Maybe if there was something slightly more obvious, eg, just under the advert. It'd only need to be one line of normal text deep, in a reasonably bold colour.

2. The joining procedure (i was re-joining with the order). It was a little unclear as to what actually had to be done. When i was picking a gift, i added membership to the basket with it, that seemed like the way to join (it'd been a while since the last time i did it). Then later on, i was asked to chose a membership package with my order, so i was kind of concerned as to whether i'd have 2 memberships charged, and if i'd get another full look at the basket to be able to check before the order was finalised. Maybe if i'd read all the stuff, the procedure would have been obvious, but i didn't, maybe i'm not the only one?
Also, it'd make sense to have a clearer link for joining SR like with the basket thing, maybe a line of text under the banner ad, split into 2 bright boxes, one for joining info, the other a link to the basket?

Just one more thing (i promise!), i'd saved renewing my membership for when i was ready to buy something, just like the first time i joined, so as to get the free gift.
In this time it'd have been pretty easy for me to drift off to a rival site, whereas if i could have joined straight away, and claimed a gift with the first order, whenever that was, i'd have done so straight away, and would have then had the incentive to stay with SR, instead of looking elsewhere too.

Hope that's helpful.
