I really can't believe how good the Gamecube is!

Does anyone know how may games Miyamoto made over the N64's 5-Year lifespan? I think it was 3: Mario, Zelda 1 and Zelda 2... and to think that on the Gamecube he's making 4 games within a year, two of which are new, and the other two which HAVE to be good, because history won't see it any other way, is amazing! It must be sooooo easy to develop for... I know he's had a good head start, but really, it's mad.

I've been reading up on the Gamecubes's Specs and I like what I see. A main pro for the Gamecube in my opinion seems to be the fact that a lot of the tasks and on board features can be performed by the hardware, where as with the PS2 these actions have to be done through the software, taking valuable processing power off the CPU and GPU. (I talk to Bonus lots... :D)

Developers also say that Nintendo's reserved polygon count estimate was too low and that the previous figures of 6-12 million were more like 20.

The GC will also use S3's 6-to-1 texture compression idea, bascially meaning that the textures needed in games can be reduced in size to a sixth of the original size with no appreciable hit on the hardware.

IBM got the contract to make the processor chips for the Gamecube...IBM's copper chips run faster than Intel's aluminum Pentium chips at the same clock speed, they also feature low power consumption and run much cooler than their aluminum counterparts. The X-Box has an Intel processor with aluminium chips, at least i'm pretty sure it does, but I don't know about the PS2... either way, the GC is fast enough!

But leaving specs there for now... well talk about err... developers...

Who isn't on board would be an easier question than who is! I mean Kojima wants a crack, Square need a Nintendo contract to make FFXI work on-line for profit, Enix and loads of other developers from Japan have ties with Nintendo ala the Gameboy Advance. Developing games is VERY expensive nowadays, so multi-platform games are what companies will make... and to think that Nintendo will have a fair amount of the decent PS2 developers on board and their own franchises spanning from Retro and Rare to (The) Shigsy (Team) and Silicon Knights I don't think they're worrying too much... oh, and one other thing: Pokmon!

Kids will go mad for it, and as soon as the Pokmon GC game is out, which I estimate at Christmas 2002, Gamecubes will literally FLY off the shelves! In fact, they probably won't even make it on them!

I started this topic for all of us to keep a running account of the Gamecube until we want to stop or until it dies down, which won't be for ages. Everything right now is PS2, PS2, PS2, but as soon as Gamecube hits America we'll see some action!

I usually want it to remember me though as I normally post from home. Anyway, it doesn't seem to have mattered, I'm back on said public computer and it asked me to log on.

Click on the Red 'Edit You Details' link next to the 'Top Posters' and the other one... at the bottom you can select one of two circle thingys... one is 'Remember Me' and the other one is 'I'll log in each time' You want the last one, where you log in so SR don't leave a cookie in your file.

If you don't understand any of this, just go to the Edit Detials link, go to the bottom, and click the one that isn't in the last section of options!

Hmmmm... is there actually a way to "log out" of the system? I'm on a public computer and while its unlikely that it cause a problem, deleting all tempory internet files and such has still left the system automatically recognizing me when I go to do a post.
