Somewhere in the region on £800.
Now I am taking my girlfriend to Paris, buying a fridge (possibly the little one from SR) and adopting a loris from London Zoo.
But that leaves me with about £500 at least to spend, if not £600.
So should I get an Xbox?
I already have Splinter Cell on GC and any mulitformat games I would just buy on that.
Should I use some of my money on an box?
The best level of Resistance sees you ambushing a squad of about 10 enemy tanks with your 5. It's extremely challenging, but some clever use of satchel charges and bottlenecking saves the day.
My favourite thing about the game is taking down running soldiers from 200 yards with a single shot. It's so very satisfying to see the spray of blood as the bullet connects. I imagine there wouldn't be very much of that going on in the Xbox version, though, as you have to be VERY precise, or you can waste a whole clip on one man.
I want to pay it some more. Resistance is absolutely wonderful, because there is such a great sense of achievement.
One mission sees you storming an enemy camp while most of the soldiers are having a party in a castle nearby. Yo have to try and steal as many of the tanks in the camp as possible. A lot of planning is necessary but it really does feel great when you've stolen all the tanks and are bombing it back to base as fast as possible.
Wonderful.
Oooo and remember - Counter Strike is coming to the Xbox aswell.
Since August last year the game has been delayed and put back. However the September release has been pencilled in since May and they have said it will be out before the end of October. I wa stempted to play through it on really low settings however it just doesn't do the game justice. With only a couple of months to wait I would rather pick up the improved Xbox version. That way I know it will work and that I can finally enjoy a game that was made with me in mind :)
Aside from Swat 3 I haven't played a decent squad based tactical shooter however the amount of realism in Operation Flashpoint was enough without it stopping the game from being fun. I am anxious to control one of the Helicopters in the game as I only every got a chance to drive the HUM V and the carrier truck for the troops.
Most people get horribly stuck. But to these people I say: Play Resistance. It's wonderful. I envy everyone who will be playing it for the first time.
Whats going to be good about Flashpoint XB is how simple online play is going to be. Its one of the few LIVE titles that interests me as you can just team up with a couple of mates and start playing. I remember getting Flashpoint on the PC. I had to run it at a very low frame rate with the least consuming graphical functions. It made the game almost un-playable and after playing it on my friends better PC the game warranted something more justified. The Xbox will run in full Dolby Digital and on my bigger TV. No installation worries or program errors and the graphics already look much improved over the PC version.
Naturally the game will be critised in the graphical department because it will be essentially a port of a 4 year old PC game. With the gameplay though it will easily make up or the lack of a few textures here and there.
The bit I played at my mates house was the one early on where you are left in the forest on your own and troops are closing in on your position. It was amazing how much the game made you think about where to go and how to avoid the tanks etc. The Xbox update is also going to include a bigger map for a few extra functions. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy, it puts later games like Ghost Recon to absolute shame.

Sudeki - Another RPG that looks set to be at the top of the Xbox greats.
Look for a video of that *jaw drops*
Good stuff.
About Operation Flashpoint. I have all the expansions, and I absolutely love it to bits, you're right.
I probably wouldn't be able to cope with the downgraded Xbox controls though, as I have become far too dependant on the keyboard and mouse for that particular game.
I really want the sequel as well, but I know it won't be comin out for ages, so I don't really have to worry about it yet.
The other games I would certainly be satisfied with on the Xbox as I probably wouldn't even buy them for the PC unless I upgraded.
I probably will end up getting an Xbox now. Thanks again for all your help guys.
Without bragging too much I think its worth a read. There are some details about the game that you be unaware of.
