I know what I'm like.
I know the opinion of most people here about me.
I know I go on and on about politics, injustices, the stupidity of mankind etc etc.

I get a few responses, but usually it's "stop moaning".
I put a post about Asset Forfeiture today and had 1 response.
I stick on about "WWF is Gay" and BOOM! Replies aplenty.

Something is wrong here.
I know this is a forum mainly about computing, but you'd think that more than 4-5 people would care about things that matter.
I enjoy video-games, but at the end of the day, they don't matter.
So I continue to post about illegal aid to 3rd world countries, dubious moral business ethics, the descent of mankind into a morass of stupidity etc and get labelled "A whinger" "like my grandad" and other amusing names.

Is it me?
Why does nobody else seem to be concerned or interested about life-changing events?
It's not because most people here are kids, I was like I am now when I was 12.
I dont get it.

Why do I continue to try and highlight things I find wrong with this planet, only to find zero responses, but a dumb topic designed to amuse and/or infuriate people gets responses faster than I can refresh my screen?

Why do I continually bang on and on and on about politics etc?
"Why can't you just shut-up" is the usual response.
Fair enough, each to their own.
I just find it incredibly frustrating that Gordon Brown is debating whether to allow police the power to monitor your bank accounts, but the main topic of conversation seems to be "Spammers should be banned".

*bangs head on desk over and over and over*

Sometimes someone will read something I've put and maybe, hopefully, sparked something of within them.
But mainly, I get the feeling that I stand there on my soapbox whilst people cross the street to avoid me.

Ah well, I'll die screaming but I know, in my heart, that I did what I could to make a difference.
I'm off to talk about movies now.

Excellent.
I got banned from RE after my 2nd year because "I asked too many questions".
Imagine that.
I loved that subject.
However, they related the virgin birth story, and I spent the entire lesson arguing with the teacher about the complete illogical nature of that.
All he kept saying was "it's a question of faith".

My argument went along the lines of:
Mary had a kid.
Joseph thinks "Hang on a minute..." and Mary says "It's a virgin birth dear"
Joseph stops to think. He's a carpenter but not thick. (Ok, so they booked into a manger for the night with an expectant wife, not the most clever of things to do).

She has the child, then all of a sudden 3 blokes turn up with expensive gifts.
"What the...?" asks Joseph.
"We...um...followed a star here", they all nod furiously.
"What?"
"Yep, we followed a star. here, have these precious things."
"Why?"
"Because he's the son of God"

Now, you're telling me Joseph didnt scratch his little carpenter head when, straight after his missus drops the kid, 3 strangers turn up with dead-costly items that followed a star?

Sounds like an enormous leap of faith to me, try that these days and see how far it gets you.

And I promptly got banned for Blasphemy.
I argued that only God could make judgement on those that questioned him, as to do otherwise was to assume to role of God and act in his abscence. And wasn't Pride a sin?

Bah.
Ah well, the old brain is ticking overtime and sleep refuses to pull me under.

I largely gave up getting involved in iteresting debates about books, politics, philosophy, science and life on here when I raised a point of theological interest in the Religion topic and had no other response other than to be branded a Satanist. Oh well.

Sorry, this wasn't a "Why dont you care?" type of post, more of I "Why do I?" sort of thing.

Honestly though, I used to get really wound up about politics, the state of the planet and stuff like that, but i have realised that you can waste a lot of time trying to make people listen to you when they will ignore you regardless, and let them dig their own graves.

To be honest, a lot of your topics are well over my head, for I am a simpleton. I laughed at the WWF one, so I posted.

Youre a drummer into cool music, and that's enough for me though... :)
