I'm one of the very few who have never bought anything from Ebay, and I don't have a clue how the thing works. So I would like to know if anyone here has bought anything from there, and how payments are made.

I'm looking for Toy Story 2 for either the Dreamcast or Playstation (there is one on ebay just now, but I can't buy stuff till the weekend), and Toy Story for the MegaDrive. If anyone has these and wants to sell them then we can maybe talk, but I would like some advice about Ebay.

Thanks in advance.

I find that re-using evelopes is the best option - I save any padded envelope I get and just re-use it!

I reused the box, weighed it all on the kitchen scales and used the website to check how much it would cost. I guess the kitchen scales must be a little out. I only charged £1.10 for postage, overcharging for postage isnt my thing.

i agree about the price of jiffy bags. ive tested it and envelopes +games wrapped in bubblewrap kinda works. a shame about the £1+.

Roughly 1.20, depending on the game, if it has a large book with it, two discs etc then maybe more, and it depends how well packed it is...then you have the cost of the padded envelop or materials.

Same way Play does it for free, they subsidise the postage and you pay a contribution to the postage and not the actual cost. Unless you're feeling all generous then you don't want to subsidise your eBay postage fees, you need the cost it will cost you, and the materials.

Basically you can set your postage how you like on eBay as long as you state it for all buyers to clearly see. I always state what I will charge on my auctions and clearly say that the total is non negotiable and reflects postal charges, materials, time, etc.

If you state your charge then no one can complain about it or say you've ripped them off. Had to do my GC games at higher postage than normal 'cause my supply of cheap padded bags ran out just as I put the auctions on, hence I had to buy expensive bags....
