my friends bought an xbox pack, which included halo, for 220 quid, primarily so he could play HALO, which comes out in PC soon, of which he has a good one (mine's better :D).
he's 17 or 18, can't remember, but he's older than me, but he also says it's good to have a console anyway, because of split screen stuff.

the boy has more money than sense, no?

I understand what you mean. However, game projects nowadays are huge compared to before, and putting together the programming, sound and graphics work is extremely difficult than in the days of Jet Set Willy. (I didn't play ths by the way). I won't say anymore because I don't want to change your mind selling Skies to me. I need this game!!!

Sure, developers have brains, but when bugged wonders such as Raven Shield and Tomb Raider make it out the doors you have to wonder. With both these titles there are massive problems, and no solutions in sight for either of them, clearly they were not properly tested.

How many new cars get recalled because thet are all faulty ? None. Planes Barely any. Even Windows has gotten better, yet games are going backwards in my opinion. Patches to add functionality are fine, but when that added functionality is actually getting the game to work as it should then all is not fine !

Vice City works perfect, only one minor patch for a problem very few people had, and yet it's a really large and complex game.

Publishers of console games cannot release them in the state many PC games are released nowadays. Back in the olden days of Commodore and Spectrum games worked, despite running in a fraction of memory and loading via tape drive. Same for Amiga, they worked, first time and every time. Yes, PC's are full of different specs, which is why we have Direct X to give a baseline standard for developers in the first place. And in ATI's case we have Raven Shield running appalingly despite them sponsoring it, and Half Life 2, another ATI sponsored product, won't fully work with the existing card range. It's madness IMO.

I'd be inclined to disagree with that. I can never get comfy sitting infront of the TV for hours, whether I'm on the sofa or not, whereas upstairs I have a nice big comfy chair to lean back on and relax. Still I suppose it's down to personal preference.

Dude, I hate it when people say stuff like this. All coders need a good brain to code in the first place, and you have to understandfinishing a game and polishing it is not like finishing off a film, album whatever. Whereas for these you instantly see the end result, and directly change the outcome, for games (and any other programs) they have to be compiled first (or interpreted line by line). It's like trying to tweak your film looking through a stained window, if you'll excuse the poor relation.

I think he is probably right to get the Xbox. So much easier to deal with than a PC. And when you have less problems you get more enjoyment. Plus there is a comfort factor. It is comfortable sitting playing an Xbox for hours on a sofa or whatever. But sitting at a computer desk for ages isn't.

It is a good thing, but if he just wanted Halo, why'd he get the XBOX bundle?

Halo IS a good laugh in splitscreen, so yeah, i guess that reason is valid for buying one.

he says himself, why work if you can't treat yourself?

that should be in the bible!
