This is where the X-Box takes over. Microsoft have no worry in launching their first console. Most of the games that will be released on the launch date has been released before on the PC and Playstation and have done well. The Playstation 2 managed to keep the cartoons away but it doesn't quite do it for me.
I have had and N64 since it first came out and through my time with it, i've found it quite hard to find a game with good, serious graphics. I want my game heroes to have names like Terminator and Razor. Not Pikachu and Conker. It's just like childrens TV nowadays too! Do you remember when you were little and you had your favourite cartoons. I remember MASK, Thundercats and He-Man. They all has giant robots, bad guys, fast cars and guns! What do they have nowadays? Furry little fluffballs with silly names. That includes the Teletubbies however cool Dipsie is! Erm...anyway if the Game Cubes is all cartoons and classic labels, I don't want to know about it.
New gaming ideas, less cartoonified games and violent children's TV programs is the idea that i leave you with. So if the Game Cube does turn out like every other Nintendo console, i advise you to "say no to Nintendo". I won't even mention Dreamcast but buy an X-Box!

> You are awfully confident. My advice. Don't be! Microsoft won't do well in Japan

I agree, the Japanese will steer well clear of the Xbox, mainly becuase it's American, whereas other consoles are Japanese, meaning cheaper, and more games for the japanese market!
> But which do you think will be better, not which will do better in Japan?
Well, if it has bad sales, developers will drop it, and it'll be a bad console! Simple!
So yes I think it is just you.
From pure power, the Xbox does sort of have a slight upper hand and therefore has a minute advantage in the graphics department.
From a games perspective, Nintendo is in the lead.
The Gamecube is by far the most programmer friendly machine around meaning that most programmers can concentrate on original and clever ideas rather than struggling with the coding.
You should know that Nintendo has had plenty of good games other than the cartoony ones.
You should also know that these cartoony games Nintendo produce are some of the best games around.
If you don't realise these two things then you are probably not mature enough to be a Nintendo gamer (shunning cartoony games because of their looks is DEFINATELY immature).
Cartoony games are not taking over consoles.
I'd say that it's more like the opposite.
Decent games of that style are rare on other systems which almost exclusively go for "adult titles".
The Gamecube will get more than enough of these more mature titles (The whole Resident Evil series for example) as well as plenty of cartoony games as well.
Basically, it's the most balanced system around.
The X box is a neat machine and if you want one then that's a fair choice and I won't disuade you.
But don't be fooled into dismissing the Gamecube as a childrens toy, because that is the most childish thing a games player can do!
Some of you guys do blether sometimes don't you. :D
Next time I'll pick more reliable sources.
Games programmers? What was I thinking! As if they'd know anything about coding from different platforms...
