Any ideas?

Mine are.....

1) - concentrate more on advertising rather than warning and threatening importers
2) - get RARE back!
3) - make a decent looking Zelda game (the cel shading did nothing to get rid of the kiddy image did it)?
4) - stop the endless delays in releasing games.
5) - shoot the current person in charge of advertising!

£250 is alot of money to expect a 'new' customer to spend as a first payment... what if they dont like the Qube? (it happens) people wont be prepared to gamble that amount of money on something they know little about.

Rogue Leader is kinda old now so advertising that game would appear like Nintendo were only capable of pushing a release title, some people might intrpret this as 'so theres no better, newer games?

I agree that ALOT more advertising is needed but for games that are newer would profit Nintendo more, unless Nintendo did a good combination advert lasting around 60 seconds and showing 5 second footage clips of 10+ games (including Rogue Leader) with a 5 second out-tro showing the Nintendo logo etc.

Im glad they didnt, they would have sold less and lost more.

I agree, although it wasn't actually Nintendo's fault that the Q wasn't released in thew Western world, it was Panasonics decision. I wrote to Nintendo and they replied that they would fully support Panasonic if they released the Q. This gorgeous looking console would've have tipped the balance in Nintendo's favour, booting the X-Box im sure, into 3rd place.

I always maintain that one of Nintendo’s mistakes was not releasing the Q officially in this country.
Firstly it had the dvd playing option, and secondly that it just looked a very cool piece of electrical equipment, something that would be more appealing to the 15-30 age demographic than a small bright purple cube. If the public want a dvd playing console them give them one for christ's sake.

And, as many people have already said, advertising is something Nintendo need to do more of. In the next few months they have some fantastic looking games coming out, and they need to be shown off to the general public. Take Rogue Leader III for instance, it’s any Star Wars fan’s dream game, so they need to exploit that factor and show the game off to as many people as possible. Add Viewtiful Joe, Mario Kart and F-Zero to that and you should get some amazing adverts that show off some amazing titles.

A few more public game shows would be welcome too. I mean, look at the Playstation Experience; it may be crammed full of sweaty geeks/annoying brats, frequented by z-list celebrities, it's overly hot and has truly awful music being pumped into your head all day, but it is an amazing advertising gimmick for Sony. It’s brilliant for them and their fans.
What do Nintendo do? The occasional Pokemon tour and that ECTS attendee only Nintendo truck. Not exactly highly appealing to members of the public, and unlikely to worry Sony.

I do believe the Gamecube #2 or whatever it is called will address most of the 'cool factor' issues with a list of new characters and a new image.

Part of me wants them go to back to cartridges though. ;)

Nintendo have no business sense nowadays thats why they are 3rd, the Playstation brand name is everywhere and they quite often put adverters of games on the TV and make sure Playstation 2 is displayed several seconds at the end of the ad so people say "that game looks cool i'm getting a Playstation 2" whether it's on Gamecube or not the public buy the PS2 for it.

Yes Nintendo need to get rid of the "family console" image because it dosen't apply so much these days because every kid wants a "cool game" like GTA VC or the next football game and not yet another cartoony platformer.

Not having a DVD drive also go's against the Cube.
