Here's a piccy of the two controllers next to each other.
Man, that Xbox thing is ugly.

Well, yes, because I bought my PSone with an analogue controller and

Turbonutter...Your Wrong!!!!
I have the Original version of a Playstation.. With a controller with NO Analogue control and NO Dual Shock just a start and select button.
The Playstation's Dual Shock was manufactured in Response to Nintendo 64's Joypad.
Nintendo WAS THE FIRST to do so! Sony Followed suit!
Personally, I also thought the N64 was out before the PSX analogue pad, but I can't find any release dates on the net.

The B64 eh?
I must have missed that one.
:-)
The PSX/PS" is THE most uncomfortable pad. It's far too small, and too hard on the hands. My thumbs ached after about 5minues of GT2, god knows how people did the endurance races!
My favourite pad is the N64, closely followed by the DC. They're larger, the buttons easier to reach, and more ergonomicaly (that means they fit my hands better).
But that's just my opinion, other people may feel differently....

Well, yes, because I bought my PSone with an analogue controller and the B64 definitely wasn't out yet.
Also, I've used SNES controllers many times. The button layout's the same, but they don't have the distinctive handles.
