Games such as Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. are so instantly playable, that for me and my kids, we can do something together, without their being a massove gulf between our talents, and it prompts my kids to be competitive, but to also appreciate the talents and efforts of others. Some other games such as Mario and Zelda also teach them basic problem solvong skills and helps them develop mentally in a way they wouldn't recieve in an educational institution.
The most important factor about Nintendo is that there are so many games which appear to the uneducated to be cartoony, and therefore aimed at kids, I do not see it this way. I find some of these games very challenging, but I do not have to worry about my kids being subject to brutal violence against what appear to be human beings. My kids are at an impressionable age, and I do not want them to think that hurting other people is acceptable. What they see in a cartoon world they are able to distinguish from real life and know that some things are wrong.
Behind the bright characters and landscapes of the Nintendo universe lies a real challenge, a true test of ability and something which can be enjoyed by people of all ages, I just hope some console rivalries don't make people miss out on a truely social event that is Nintendo gaming.
I think that's one of the wisest things I've heard on these forums in a long time. It's a shame such things as specs and bitter rivalry set apart factions that obviously are biased towards certain consoles.
Of course, other consoles have their sociable games as well, but there is some kind of, if you pardon me saying so, magic to the games that are in fact aimed at kids through Nintendo.
I can only advise you to never buy Conker's Bad Fur Day for your kids, Mariochu. :0)
Anyway, I wouldn't say that Nintendo's games are being made solely for kids. Zelda is very challenging, I find myself trying to help my kids all the time because they find certain aspects of the game difficult, but I can understand them more clearly, but even I can be challenged by the game.
