Games such as Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. are so instantly playable, that for me and my kids, we can do something together, without their being a massove gulf between our talents, and it prompts my kids to be competitive, but to also appreciate the talents and efforts of others. Some other games such as Mario and Zelda also teach them basic problem solvong skills and helps them develop mentally in a way they wouldn't recieve in an educational institution.
The most important factor about Nintendo is that there are so many games which appear to the uneducated to be cartoony, and therefore aimed at kids, I do not see it this way. I find some of these games very challenging, but I do not have to worry about my kids being subject to brutal violence against what appear to be human beings. My kids are at an impressionable age, and I do not want them to think that hurting other people is acceptable. What they see in a cartoon world they are able to distinguish from real life and know that some things are wrong.
Behind the bright characters and landscapes of the Nintendo universe lies a real challenge, a true test of ability and something which can be enjoyed by people of all ages, I just hope some console rivalries don't make people miss out on a truely social event that is Nintendo gaming.

... hahaha, sorry......
Im 16 too and i feel that if you are mature enough to play the games and dont take them too seriously i think you should be able to play them, of course i dont recommend a 11 year old to play them but us (dare i say it) young adults should be able to.

I tend to either praise Ninty with the odd comparison to Sony or just talk about games in general and ignore console wars like SFA my new post wheres anti-sony in there?
I prefer talking about aspects of games or areas that specifies in certain areas rather than make an anti-sony or nintendo post aka Turbonutter (he writes it good mind).

I'm glad at the response I am getting, I didn't know quite how well a 30-something dad would be taken to in these forums.
True Bonus, that people your age, I'm guessing your about 20, will prefer to play games where it is only your own opinions which may be affected by the game. I have some games for my N64 which I haven't told my kids about, because I don't want them playing them, Perfect Dark is one of them, but I do enjoy playing this game myself, so I can definately see where you are coming from.
And as for your opinion Grix, I agree one hundred percent, Nintendo games do seem to have a magic to them, and thank you for the compliment.
What?
I've had no sleep... tired all day then not at night.
