Yeah, I've gone a bit mad with the 'classics' threads, but I wanted one for the PC.

So, any old gems you want to share with us?

Haven't got that Xcom, I've only got Interceptor. Which is quite good.

Ufo Enemy Unknown

I remember playing that on the Amiga, one of the most memorable games EVER!!!

I just loved the upgrading your troops thing, the going on missions to acquire new bits to research, assigning you troops before missions the armory, the intercepting of craft... everything was just do damn good.

*sniff*

It won't work on XP though.

god damn it

yeah, terror from the deep was my favourite for ages.

I actually enjoyed the long process of kitting out all your troops, renaming them and that. if one lasted many missions, you were actually gutted to see them got blown to bits. Also, all the customisation of your bases.

many different types of missions - on ships, islands, alien spacecraft, underwater, alien cities, defending your own bases.

was really hard though I don't think I ever finished it.

You'd go to the alien cities and all your guys would get put under molecular control, leading to them killing each other.

there should be another made

There has been, it was released last month.

UFO: Aftermath

It's essentially the same underlying forumla, but with a few big changes - such as no cash/economy system, removal of control over bases, a better tactical combat interface, more varied and less frustrating missions, etc. It's done by Altar this time around, so it's not a *true* sequel. It's a good game though. I've been playing it for a couple of weeks now.

They've discontinued the series now, haven't they? Like Grand Prix, that is a real shame.

And no control of bases - probably the worst omission there.

Anyway, how much?

UFO became impossible towards the end.

Like in Terror From The Deep, you could do pretty much anything until it came to infiltrating bases.

'Etherels'. Damn them. They mind-controlled all my team and that was that.

Plus they had enourmous beasts that took ages to kill.
