Penalties aren't my strength. As a striker, I'm pretty good compared to the people I know but I'm useless from the spot. Something to work on when I get back to fitness again.

Always what i did in the rare event i took one. Always picked the top left corner and spanked it hard as i could. Scored all 3 of my kicks in my illustrious career :-D

Ok.. England should have won.. Fair and square.. Sol's goal was definately in.. However the England squad went down right until the end fighting. (Even though after Owen scored they seemed like they thought they had it in the bag and that was only after 3 minutes or so)

Sven. (who kinda happens to look like my dad) Has done a good job for the team and country.. I still feel as though he can do great things in the future. Who knows the world cup maybe in 2006?

I know there are loads of people who blame sven. However there were 11 players on the pitch that night. So they all have to take part of the responsibility.

When we went 1-0 down to the Swiss my mates and loads of other people were shouting to sack Sven. Then as soon as the 3-1 victory was earned Sven became the best manager ever.

I defend Sven, just because he's not English he's becoming the scapeboat for a lot of blame if England play bad.

Beckham is still captain worthy, just not penalty worthy, that one against France was terrible (even if it was on target) he hit it like a corner so it swings out later, way too easy for the goalkeeper to follow it for an easy save.

That's the thing though. Sven has a pretty good record and has recently signed a big extension with a pay increase. It would take a bit of money to terminate that. Sven won't walk out until his contract ends and he could probably get any job going.

I've always defended Sven saying as long as he gets the results who cares if he's english or not however now the time has come to have a go at him.

Tactics have been extremely poor all tournament, taking Rooney off against France and replacing him with the lump Heskey and sitting back on our penalty box for 45 minutes. You can't bloomin do it, did he learn nothing against Brazil?
Why Beckham was still getting picked i have no idea, if it was anyone else (apart from Owen) turning in such crap he'd have been taken off quickly, but as it's the over-rated celebrity come sometimes footballer he's still out there as the invisible man.

It was exactly what England have tried to do for almost the entire tournament: Shut out a team 'better' than them. Greece did it superbly. France did open them up occasionally but never really did anything with the chances.

France have been pretty disappointing but at least we get new champs out of it.

Yeah but what happened happened. We still put up an average fight in the end during stoppage time and our penalties were better than I expected, Cole being a prime example.

Where as France were just pap. Henry did nout, Trezaguet (Sp) did nout and the whole team played crap.

Yes but it should not have got to that. We should have won 2 - 1 from normal time by Campbell's perfectly good goal.
