Not 'dross'.
Bad Hedfix, bad bad Hedfix...
*Shrugs*
I really should've read that through again but I'm in a rush. I have a PC to fix and money to extort. ;)

I never said they did. I think you must've read something wrong earlier if you thought that was the point I was making. We all know they're behind Sony and possibly Microsoft. I was merely trying to discuss what will happen when the PSP arrives whilst adding what I think Nintendo will do.

I'm not blind to Nintendo's flaws either but it appears I am more aware of their ability to innovate and stay in a market than you are. I mean the fact that do said 'you could've fooled me' whewn I made the point that Nintendo innovate is simply laughable. Of COURSE they innovate and yes they do hold back some of the innovation when they control the lead shate in a market (handhelds) but this doesn't mean that they don't innovate, as I've said: Just look at the controllers for indications of Nintendo's innovation.

Ha! We WERE Talking about the PSP to begin with but then you made a few dross-comparasins and now we're on consolesf for some bloody reason.
And yet you made the 'you could have fooled me' comment which was simply daft.
They've also held the handheld market back massively, this is

Yes and I never said that they didn't hold back markets when they are in the lead. And I already made the point that Sony coming into to the market will force them to bring out more ideas and innovation in order to compete/keep the lead in the market.
However when a company owns exclusive titles that people want to play they can ask what they want for the hardware needed to play them on. People seem happy with re-vamped SNES games hopefully, as suggested, we will see N64 games soon.
I don't disagree with you about Sony entering the market being good for competition, competition prevents stagnation in a market which can only be good for the consumer.
The only thing I can really see where we differ is that you still believe Nintendo are the 'same old same old' and I believe that they will re-launch themselves come the next console and that they are in the process of changing now.
If this is the only sticking point (and if there are others please point them out as I am only too happy to debate them) then perhaps we should agree to differ and wait and see what happens with regards to Nintendo.

Jesus Christ kid - try the same yourself noting that I'm drawing comparisons with the home/handheld markets and how Ninty don't have everything wrapped up with a little bow because they are currently top dog in portables (where this all started). Am not an on "anti-Nintendo tirade" as I've no interest in holding any loyalty to one console. Though, for what it's worth, I've been buying Nintendo for twenty years, the difference is I'm not blind to their huge flaws.
With regards the innovation tangent you've ran off on - what the hell was that about? I'm not saying Nintendo haven't done a lot, just that it isn't necessairly the best way to make money and sell consoles (again, I remind you, what we were talking about to begin with). They've also held the handheld market back massively, this is why I mentioned the Pocket PC. Not because I expect you to run out and buy one for gaming, but to show you what afordable, portable grunt is available that Nintendo choose not to use to boost bottom line. I've no doubt they have a new handheld console ready and waiting to be launched at a few months notice, but the point is they won't do this unless forced by competition for a year or two at least.
It's a dream. :-)
I can't imagine it without an analogue stick though, and although it might be possible to impliment the design onto a handheld, nintendo just don't pull out the stops like they used to, not going by what they've done over the last 2 years anyway.
Another thing.
Pokémon.
Yesterdays news.
Yeah, it has it's hardcore fanbase, like Mario and Zelda, but it's nowhere near the huge worldwide phenomena it was 4 years ago. If Nintendo want to stirr something up THAT big again, they'll have to catch onto the NEXT big thing.
I think that was the main reason they started this whole Q-fund business.
Other than the new Final Fantasy, did anything actually become of it?
That would rock muchos.

I do.
I also remember some article where old people we're actually playing GameBoys. :)

Portable link-up Goldeneye anyone?

Where did you read that? In June there was 300,000 between them in favour of the GC. Since then the Xbox has been selling 500,000 a month on average, and outselling the GC by 3 to 1 (apart from Japan). Now a bit of arithmetic and you get to the conclusion that the Xbox has the lead. Which fits with the last numbers I saw.

I don't know any old ladies who know what a Gameboy is. but I do know some that know what a Playstation is.
2: Iwati said: "It's nice of Sony to give us a head start"
3: Iwati said: "Our next generation Gameboy could be far sooner than you think"
4: Sony do not have exclusive Tekken, final fantasy, GTA, Metal Gear Solid on the PSP as they are GBA games too...
5: Nintendo have 4 exclusive handheld games developers that some of you may not know anything about.
6: Nintendo have the support of Microsoft Games Studio's
7: Nintendo adveritse Gameboy in prime time slots, adveritse in major magazines and genuinally advertise well unlike the Gamecube.
8: Nintendo have Pokemon.
9: The PSP seems to be more of an N-gage sorta multi-system than a real handheld combatent.
10: The PSP uses CD and laser technology which equels battery guzzling... this killed the SEGA Gamegear.
11: Nintendo could possibly upgrade to an N64 speced system.
12: The PSP will play old PS1 titles... and the GBA2 COULD play old N64 titles... the PS1 is a massive selling system with games that the world and his wife own. The N64 is a unappreciated system... probably the best Nintendo have EVER created with some of the greatest games ever made in the world that few comparativly have played...
13: Nintendo's installed userbase has existed for so long that every generation are Gameboy fans.
