Why Sony will!
Sony’s Playstation 2 is the closest thing on the market to the X-box. Both are seen as a big boys toy (Teenagers) and so if Microsoft appeal to the teenagers and Sony’s main market is teenagers then Sony may lose a few. I know a few Sony fans that are moving to the X-box as they think it looks “cool”.
Look at them Microsoft has based itself around the Playstation who are they more like Sony or Nintendo? Sony fans that want to try something new may think a good choice will be the X-box.
Why Nintendo will!
Japan have already rejected the X-box claiming they think it is too big, the UK and the rest of Europe has had a mix response but it is the USA which is most keen on Microsoft’s new box of tricks. So why will this effect Nintendo?
Well Nintendo sells best in America and if Americans take to Microsoft’s x-box then Nintendo could well suffer.
Why Microsoft will!
Because no one wants their console, the games are not impressive and well no one wants their console! So yeah it might affect Nintendo and Sony but it doesn’t do much and well it’ll be Microsoft who will suffer for making a console no one wants.
Bring on the criticism!

I think there are many Sega owners heading over to the X-Box, I'm one of them, there are a few others knocking about the forums here.
I think the key factor here will be the public spending power at the time of launch, with Britain's current uncertain economic climate at the moment prevailing, who knows if people are going to be able to fork out over £300 on a console around March/April next year?
Sony DID enter the market during a prosperous time, I agree that the X-Box may not have that kind of boost. But looking at the current sales data (X-Box selling out every time units are placed on the web for purchase in the States, as well as the amount of pre-orders that are being snapped up for bundles), I think Microsoft are going to struggle to produce the 1.2 million units needed to meet their current order book so far.
> Personally, I think Microsoft will not do very well because they're the newcomers. I know Sony were new as well, but there's a difference. When the PlayStation was released, the market was perfect. Everyone was disappointed with the Saturn and the N64 didn't exist yet. Everyone went for the PS, because it was there, it was good and it was cool. The Xbox, however, is entering at a time when the PS2 is in its prime and the ever-popular Nintendo machine is being released. I just wonder how much time people will have for the Xbox.
Microsoft are entering the market just as Sega leave it, though, what better start could they possibly get?
