I agree the year up till about a month ago hasn't been too good. But the Christmas line up looks brilliant.

The Xbox has had a pretty boring year for me, and it's Christmas line-up isn't to impressive. Microsoft need to get their act together or sort out some decent online games to complement Xbox Live sharpish, or Nintendo will widen the gap between them.

If you had asked me a couple of months a go which console had the most enjoyable and quality exclusive titles I would have said the GameCube. With Xbox LIVE and a tonne of other games both on and lffine worth playing the tables have turned drastically.

I prefer the GameCube as a console, but as a whole, I like them both just as much.

GameCube has the top quality Nintendo exclusives that I've enjoyed since I can remember, and Xbox has Live play, as well as other top quality games.

I thought that the whole point of Nintendo's marketing stratedgy was that they'd make a tidy profit on minimal sales, through a tight, efficient budget on devellopment and marketing.

How in the world did they manage to start haemoraging their cashflow? :-S

Although Nintendo have made their first ever loss they are still expected to make a big profit over the next few months. The christmas period has always made up the bulk of Nintendo's sales for the year. Still not good news for the company though.

Nintendo do not necessarily need third part support to remain afloat. The GameCube is still home to some of the best titles and with the recent sales boost, many shops and companies will inevitably be sheepishly working their way back to Nintendo.

I found this in the xbox official mag and its to do with the game cube "The game cube is a declining business. if others companines follow us they will have a hard battle to fight." "Eidos boss mike mcgarvey dosen't beat around the bush when telling the times newspaper that nintento's gamecube is in trouble." not my words it in issue 22 of the official xbox mag.
