Well, once more here I stand to stub my beautiful tube of pleasure out in your proverbial dinner.
Geez, smokers are treated like child-molesters now aren't we?
America, certain states you are forbidden to smoke anywhere outside or in public buildings.
YET, you can buy guns and beer in the same store. Now there's a healthy mix of hobbies eh?
I smoke. I enjoy it. It gives me a lot of pleasure. The 1st one in the morning, after a nice meal, sitting in the garden in the summer evenings with friends.
One question to all the health-nazis out there:
Why don't you ever have the balls to complain to our faces?
It's always when that person has left the room or you're a safe distance away that you start to wave your hand and go on and on and on in the whiny little voice "It's the secondary smoke. I don't want to die for their habit"
Fair enough.
Stop driving your car, stop drinking, stop using your mobile phones and stop burning fossil fuels, because you know what? Those things can all kill me and I have no say in that.
But nooooooo, let's all point our fingers at the nasty smoker across the room.
In an age where traffic pollution is causing record numbers of asthma cases, where over-demand is wiping our seas of all the fish, where intensive farming methods means outbreaks of diseases that we haven't seen in decades, we should all just moan about me having a fag.
Except I don't care.
And you know why? Because me having this one fag (I'm smoking right now..mmmm..taste that cool Laramie goodness) is not going to kill you.
It's not. No more than you eating that beef or crossing that road.
So grow up, mind your own business and stop telling me what I should or shouldn't do ok?
Ok
Let's all act like adults, worry about our own lives and try to make as much money as we can before we die from that inconsiderate person lighting up 30ft away.
The sun will burn through our ozone layer before you catch cancer from my smoking.
And they'll have a cure for it by then anyway, so relax and enjoy your hair.
I'm not doing any damage to you whatsoever, you're far more likely to catch a disease from the carcinagens in the air from traffic and CFCs and all that other stuff.
So, stop forcing your morals and interests onto my life, I didn't ask for it, I don't want it and I sure as hell don't appreciate it.
I'll smoke, I'll get the tumours and I'll die.
That's fine with me, so leave me be to enjoy my final, hacking and weezing days in peace and quiet.
Yesterday as I came home from school I came in the door excited about the U2 concert I was going to see that evening.
My mum puts it straight
" Craig... you Grampa died this morning at 8:05 in hospital "
Now that I may remember for the rest of my life... I was extremely close to my grampa and then he dies like that.
How?
Bloody fags... and he was not in the funning bed-wetting days as you call it... still a mentally/physical fit man.
To be honest I don't what the fun I am writing... I am off school as I am aparently not fit to go in yet... so I come on the forums for a small chat etc.... then I come accross your post and quite frankly for the first time I am really poshed off at you.
I don't want to argue with you as I do honestly like you and you are older/wiser than me and I am in a state of shock or something.
All I'm saying is.... actually I don't know. You can smoke if you bloody want, people are always going to have a go at you and I THINK IT IS ONLY BLOODY FAIR NON-SMOKERS HAVE THE UPPER HAND IN PUBLIC PLACES... I go out for dinner at restaurant I don't want funnning second hand smoke thrown in for free... my grampa was a heavy smoker but he always made sure if he was in public places or we went to visit he always stopped.
Sorry can't write anymore.
> Im not having a go at anyone here but I just wanted to ask some of the smokers a few questions.
Are you not bothered at all about the health risks?
Quite clearly no. I can read the warnings, I know the effects, I just don't care about it. I'm going to die, what difference does it make how, where or when?
Are you addicted or could you stop at any time?
I don't want to stop. Amazingly, smoking is nice. If it wasn't, I wouldn't do it.
Do you think of others before you light up?
Yes.
How much do you spend a week on cigs?
About £15

I'm talking about outside.
I dare whoever doesn't like it to come up and moan to my face.
See how far you get with that pasty health-nazi whining.
My Dad has been smoking all his life (well, maybe since he was in nappies), has a phlegmy smoker's cough, and now has to use an inhaler. I know there have been scientific studies done saying that we remember strong smells particularly well. That's maybe why one of the lingering memories of my childhood is the smell of his breath. Sad really. Bizarrely it was the best incentive to put me off smoking for life. In fact the nearest I've come to smoking a fag was when I was going out with a heavy smoker. I only did that the once, it was like kissing a chimney.
I agree with the American values bit, they get everything like that wrong, anyway, the government there are making too much money from harder drugs to worry about revenue from smokers, oh and the money they get from choosing to kill the planet off by not joining in any green campaigns.
Me, cynical? nah!
In reply to Goatboy's topic, I'm really not too sure what to think. My grandad died of smoking, and my gran and uncle both smoke as well. My parents used to, but stopped just before I was born.
To be honest with you mate, I do hold my breath when I walk past someone smoking. Or if my Gran or Uncle are smoking, I normally go in another room. Is it a form of insult?? No, it's just that I don't like the smoke.
I don't mind people smoking. I know it's probably not good for you, and that I'd prefer it if people didn't smoke, but it's your choice matey, you do as you please. My main worry is people spending too much money on them.
:P
