OK Lets go back in time..........

*Turns on smoke machine - cue SFX*

Its 1950, the war is over and everyone is looking for something to do in their spare time.

You now have the knowledge to enlighten the people about the Future of Gaming as you have already been into their future.....

You have the oppurtunity to invent a games console and 1 game, but that is all.

You must think carefully about the durability of the console as it will have to last around 50 years, which also means the 1 game you include with the console will also need to keep them occupied for a very long time!

Think very carefully.

What games console and 1 game would you provide the people of 1950 with?

I suppose it could be a Sega Saturn, as they would never have seen a Playstation to compare it with, and it would get a lot more attention. Plus the thing would be so impressive that it would sell like hotcakes, even without Sega's non-existent advertising.

Why Sega didn't think of this first and invent a time machine, I'll never know! ;-)

Listen, they dont need the technology.... They had oil and coal back then didnt they?.... Maybe they could run the consoles off windmills or something! :-)

Anyway, regardless of the technology, what console would you re-invent and why?

I was going to suggest the gamecube because of all its other uses other then gaming, but I thought the Nintys may get a bit annoyed!

or maybe I could have said that the PS2 could have kept them warm in the winter.... being a radiator and all! :-)

Brilliant topic, i reckon this should be awarded I reccomend this topic.
A toughie it would be a gamecube style machine. A double sided CD one side with a game and one with a DVD. The DVD would be a day to day diary, realtime of the hundred year war. The game would be a construction game where you could on the CD design and test your own games!

I don't think they'd have the technology for my choice of console in 1950.

This was before black and white space invaders was made.
