er-no talked me into downloading it, and I've got to say that despite my initial qualms about a 227MB download, it was well worth it.
Legend of Mir is basically an RPG, set in a medieval landscape, where you travel from town to town hacking up monsters and other players on route, trying to get them before they get you, levelling up as you go.
The fun part is the other players. I was playing on a 56k modem, and it was a little laggy at times, but it didn't stop me becoming a 'Player Killer' (PK) within a matter of minutes when I found a sword and used it on an unsuspecting noobie. He'll be ok, he just lost a few items and started again from the last town he was in.
But it WAS kinda fun. Maybe I'm getting bloodthirsty in my old age, but now I'm having more and more battles with other online players and hardly touching the monsters. On the plus side it's a quick way to level up. On the downside it doesn't exactly get you a lot of friends.
You can even join a group of however many players you wish (SR Forums Guild, anyone?). That way when you kill monsters together, it doesn't matter which one of you deals the finishing blow, you all share the experience points. The great thing about groups is that you can go to war bigtime, not just against other players but against other groups and guilds too, all in realtime isometric view 3D.
Fun stuff.

All the information you require to play the game, including downloadable beginners guide and manual, is there.
I'll get it just as I go home for the weekend!
Typical!

Hmmm. 18% with 17 hours 15 mins remaining.
Is Sniper downloading this? I've just got this image in my head of all of us heading into a cave, and Sniper being eaten by a monster as we all run away...

As for the beastie, I'm still only level 12, I reckon I'll

The horn is called HORN OF WOOMATAURUS and you get the horn by killing Woomataurus who lives on the 2nd sub level of Wooma Temple. This is what you need to creat a party.
I don't know how strong the Woomataurus is but when you kill it you get about 2000 experiance.
You can get more info about the Woomataurus and other creatures by going to the web page and selecting "guide" then Monsters. The Woomataurus is on the 3rd page.
Darkreaper
From what I've seen it looked crap. Poor graphics and no music. But I could be wrong.
In fact, it's most likely that I'm wrong.
