No, it won`t be as lond as the FOG version.
Why am I trying it out anyway?
The PS2 forum is a very interesting place to be, but it can also be a little quiet. I though perhaps if we had a topic with several hundred replies lurking at the top, things would look more popular.
Feel free to use the topic to talk about anything. Either the latest PS2 game, latest ideas for including some female star in a game etc... or even just the usual chat that happens all over.
As I expect this to fail, I`ve decided to spend a little while pushing up the replies. No spamming, just lots of nonsense :-)
Any help would be great, it`d be boring to have a whole topic with replies from only me.

Well anything is possible nowadays ... flick the switch, turn everyones VPNs off, offer a managed VPN service at xxx amount of money per year, flick the individual switches on ... hey look at that it all works :|
> Can they gain access to your routers remotly for maintenance purposes?
Yes they can tell if there is a router plugged in, they should in no way be able to get access to the settings as these were all setup with our own username and passwords.
Most of the time, we disable the "manage router from external sources" so basically if you put the ip address in, in a web browser, you'd get nothing, that is how it was setup. At the moment we've got them all switched back on for obvious reasons :)

I can see what you are saying but I honestly can't think of a way they can actually do that? Can they gain access to your routers remotly for maintenance purposes?
Anyone still got the storm over them? The power's constantly on and off here. Also I just released a kite from a tree's grasp. I've never seen a kite this large, what mad man was flying it in this weather?! :-D

Ah I see what your saying now, but can you not see what I'm saying? Pipex said about the VPNs not being supported on the Monday when it all went t!ts up, now I / we don't really keep a major eye on the Pipex website but my boss is pretty adamant that their VPN offering only appeared a short while ago .... ie during the week last week and had deffo not seen it before.
What I'm basically getting at is this, I bet if we took the router to a residential ADSL line and setup the VPN connections as they should be, then the VPN connections would start working. I / we think Pipex have somehow disconnected our business VPN side of the ADSL link probably trying to force us onto a managed service.
They will, of course, deny this, but it's very odd that this has happened!

Thats what I was asking.
The reason I asked you that is that I think when Pipex said to you they do not support VPN, it means they do not support VPN it if it's not installed by them because they offer their own VPN and would only support products purchased from them?
Sleepy, if you have another look at the GP listings you'll see im not taking part in it, tsk keep up woman. :p
Don't get so cocky just yet - there are still 40 points on offer from GPs' prediction games.
At least you are both being gentlemanly and not mentioning the fantasy football :(
Not worried about you Neo, I'll just wait for you to get bored again and slide out of the points - much as you did last season :D
But Shadow - tsk, tsk. I'll not stand for being beaten in both comps. Not that I can do anything about it other then go sit in a corner and cry :)
Now bear in mind, all these settings were all ready in there, nothing had been changed .. all pointing to the correct addresses and with the right routes and gateways and IKE shared keys.
Run KIWISYSLOG on the site 1 router and you see hardly any VPN connection information appearing!
Anyway, no I didn't setup the VPN, if that's what you were asking, my boss did, but it's been working for the last 5 months, why stop now, no one has access apart from the 3 support people here, and no one has touched or changed any of the settings.
> Did you install the VPN?
No, we had this conversation the other day. The VPN software is already pre installed on the router, all you do is fill out the relevant settings and away it goes.
Bear in mind - all three sites, have the same make, model and firmware version of the router so there's no conflicts there.
