Yes, it`s been done before.
No, it won`t be as lond as the FOG version.

Why am I trying it out anyway?

The PS2 forum is a very interesting place to be, but it can also be a little quiet. I though perhaps if we had a topic with several hundred replies lurking at the top, things would look more popular.

Feel free to use the topic to talk about anything. Either the latest PS2 game, latest ideas for including some female star in a game etc... or even just the usual chat that happens all over.

As I expect this to fail, I`ve decided to spend a little while pushing up the replies. No spamming, just lots of nonsense :-)

Any help would be great, it`d be boring to have a whole topic with replies from only me.

Not necessarily your name. I gave a description of looking at the screen for scores to Jive, simplified in a way for him to compare it with looking at football scores, but I never stated he'd understand it. It also wasn't a scoring method I described but the counter point to him saying that he only has to look at the screen when watching footie to see the score. However if I saw the scores on the screen like that, even without sound, I would understand because I don't dislike cricket. I think I've taken way too much offence at that last statement and am going to flee back to the sports forum :)

Oh well.

Morning folks and a wet, miserable one it is as well.

We have all got our own opinions about which sport we like and don't so lets end it there.

That's fine and totally understandable. I wasn't really taking a dig at you at all Jive, just the comment below from (again forgotten his/her user name) where the scoring method in cricket was described in a way that it might as well have been scoring method in football.

Four or so years ago I knew very little about cricket and couldn't care less. I got into it properly when England played South Africa in the summer test series a few years back and have watched since.

Go and be free, worry not about knowing little about cricket - its usually less embarrassing to know nothing about cricket than to be knowledgeable on the subject. The same applies to maths unfortunately. Probably chess too, but I don't play very often at all.

Well I'll profess to knowing about as much about cricket as I do about PHP programming .. yep, not a lot :)

I think we'll just end up disagreeing so you stay with cricket and I'll stick with footie :)

I agree that cricket is more complicated and am happy if that is a person's reason for disliking the sport, but the reason given below by (sorry, forgotten the name already) made no sense.

Also, the fact that cricket is a bit complicated has been fun over the last few days. Its nice to see people taking an interest in a new sport, especially if it helps the game, but it is extremely funny to see celebrities claiming to have loved cricket for years now that it is popular and then failing to show any actual knowledge of the game.

Way to many numbers on the screen :-)

I wondered how long it would take anyone to notice that :) I've stopped with the fags so that's better than I could have hoped for so far, well I had 4 last Thursday night in the pub but haven't had any since then .. spending £3.15 per week on a pack of cigars and having one a day must be alot better than spending xxx amount per week on fags!?

Not really. Okay look at any footie on TV and you can see immediately what the score is - unless it is half time and the commentators are talking in which case you have to wait a while.

With cricket you may have to watch for a couple of minutes but they do show the current score for the batting team. If that team is in second then they also show what target they have to reach and how many wickets / overs they have left to achieve this in.

Simple :)

EDIT: Just noticed your new tag line. Naughty, very, very naughty. You know you will never quit that way.

I think there's your point between cricket and football, you walk upto a TV where there is footy being shown, you look at the scoreboard .. Team A 2 - 1 Team B - pretty obvious who's winning, who's loosing etc.

Walk upto a TV showing cricket .. England 130 - 3 hmmm so is that good or bad .. do I start cheering or should I slump in the seat with my head in my hands .. were Oz all out for ducks or did they score 3000 runs comprising 2000 wides ... ??

Football simple - cricket way too complicated :-)
