No, it won`t be as lond as the FOG version.
Why am I trying it out anyway?
The PS2 forum is a very interesting place to be, but it can also be a little quiet. I though perhaps if we had a topic with several hundred replies lurking at the top, things would look more popular.
Feel free to use the topic to talk about anything. Either the latest PS2 game, latest ideas for including some female star in a game etc... or even just the usual chat that happens all over.
As I expect this to fail, I`ve decided to spend a little while pushing up the replies. No spamming, just lots of nonsense :-)
Any help would be great, it`d be boring to have a whole topic with replies from only me.
I think I'll leave things alone until later today. Have another go at it before I go to the pub to catch this evenings game.
Unlucky today Jive, they should have won.
> Nah it's easy don't worry, are you gonna go wireless or cabled?
Wired. This is a weird feeling. I took my old computer from work, connected it to the router, switched both computers on and the router recognised two connections to it. I only have one screen so I switched the connections over and bingo this computer is running fine. It is wierd because all my old stuff is still on here and I am typing this from my old keyboard.
Now I need to make a decision. Despite this being the old computer I really only wanted the hard drive set up so that I could run Oracle on this system. Everyone else has had such problems with Oracle (which I didn't previously) that I didn't want to use it on my everyday computer. As this computer has immediately connected to the internet (UKchatforums came straight up as the home page) I have to ask myself:
Do I just download an old version of Oracle to run on Windows 98 (this operating system) or do I install my windows XP home edition? I thought I needed to network these computers so that I could download to the home computer from the internet and drag / drop info to the Oracle computer.I've also lost my router to my home computer so I'll have to find it again.
Need a cup of tea and another think about this.
Ok, first up have you given both (presuming two computers) an IP address in your network settings?
Something like 192.168.0.x (first computer) and 192.168.0.y (second computer)?
x and y have to be unique, ie 10 and 20
When they are set, then you goto the first computer and run up a dos prompt and type
ping 192.168.0.20 -t all has to be in lowercase and in the dos prompt should appear reply from 192.168.0.20 repeated all the time until you stop with Ctrl + C
Is that working?
How do ya that?
Just set up mine... A bit confused...

Nah it's easy don't worry, are you gonna go wireless or cabled? Wireless is more expensive and can potentially be unsafe, wired is alot easier as long as you know all about TCP/IP & testing the network. :)
Give us a shout if you get stuck.
Off to watch Saints v Newcastle in about an hour ..... BEER :)

Gave me an idea that did. No overtime pay but I think I'll 'borrow' (compensation) an old computer from here and build me a little network at home. Well at least I'll have a go. Easy in theory but knowing me it will be a nightmare in reality:)
