ER mate are you saying carts are better than discs because of no loading times Bahahahahahahaha, dude carts cost an absolute fortune, in some years they'll get old and won't work straight away, near same even though no loading time because games that "load" blend it in with the menu's and load in seconds, 64 meg on a cart mmm wana know how they fit it all in, they compress it.
ever wondered why a real player file is a smaller size than an mpeg, get the idea? carts have to suffer loss of quality cough cough sound oh man.

DVD's offer very fast loading times, 5:1 sound, DVD video, sountracks and BAGS of space at a cheap price, also demo discs are cheap to make.

Carts are 80's technology bud!!!

Exactly. And that's why, with its opresent showcase of games, Nintendo are in the lead at the moment.

Less than a DVD, more than a CD. PS2 has the edge over Nintendo on storage and I suppose it partly comes down to how good the compression is on the discs, but Sony have had longer to play around with their new technology and the third parties are also starting to get a grip of it, so expect to find games using more and more space on the discs.

We will all be doing so ,eventually. Once nintendo have sorted out that "Pikachu-is-so-cute-it-will-make-you-buy-Smash-Bros-Melee" formula. And of course, once all previously PS exclusive games will come out for the GC.

hm. Some of the newer cartridges held quite a bit of information. Obviously the CD has the edge over versitility and cost, but not access time. It's nice to have something that doesn't completely destroy the game when you run a fingernail over the surface though!

Well, Nintendo are now moving to discs (of some description) which should benefit costs (yes, but to who?) and make storage problems a thing of the past (until they realise that the graphics end up using half the disc) It will be interesting to see if any transformations are created from a change of media, but Nintendo know what they are doing and I wish them luck with the Gamecube (because I'm buying one...)
