Ok, i installed the PSU and downloaded a stak of new drivers (VIA4in1, Detonator 3 etc). But the PC is still really slow. Is this because the lack of power from my old 240W PSU did some damage to my CPU ?

You could try one of the fixes posted, or use the VIA 4in1 v4.32 as this is supposed to fix the issue.

You could be suffering from the "386b BUG"
this is an issue with VIA chipset M/Boards and the Creative EMU10K1 sound chip.
This BUG also affects Hard Disk Drives when reading / writting large files.

Is the sound card a Creative Labs "Live" of any type?

yeah i reinstaled windows today but i am using downloaded drivers (VIA4in1)

I have a sound card in slot 3 like u said, and a modem in slot 4, and a Geforce 2 MX in my AGP slot.

Bios is up to date!

What cards do you have in the PC?

Have you tried a fresh install of windows, using the ABIT driver disk only?

My BIOS type is 3R, like your example.
