should i get:
1) a ps2 + a few games (about 400 quid)...from sr of course...and don't s**g it cos i know i will like it
2) a new desktop for 400 quid from hong kong :)
but check out the specs:
AMD K thunderbird 1.2 GHZ
512 DDR RAM
30 GB Hard Drive Seagate
Geforce 2
Floppy Drive
Panasonic 12x DVD
Lan Card
Sound Blaster Live
mouse, keyboard and speakers
the reason it is so cheap is cos there is no monitor and that stuff is cheap in hong kong....
SO what do you think
PS2 games you just pop in and play. PC games you pop in, read a 90 page manual about what buttons to push, install it, configure it, then find out you need a neo3 card.
I'm a gamer, personally I find gameplay more fun on a console, you don't have to worry about hitting the wrong button as you 'learn' your controller in a matter of minutes, a keyboard can take a few hours to master.
PC beats the PS2 for online play, granted, you just can't get Unreal Tournament type gameplay on the PS2, at the moment. But in a few months time...you never know.
Personally I'm biased too, because I already have a hi-spec PC (Acer Veriton FP2), but I never use it for gaming simply because my Dreamcast covers all my gaming needs. The PC I use for browser based games like MUDs and MPORPG's, which don't require hi-tech specs, and that type of online gameplay you'd never get with a console.
It's your choice, this is just my opinion. If you think a PC is good for you go for it, but I'd be worried about the Return To Base Warranty when you get it back to the UK if it packs up on you.
> Very true.
Sniper your back!
> PS2 is ready to go out of the box, and it's fun.
so is a pc if you have the games
A PC is boring,
> won't have a monitor with it (unless you got one), and watching
> DVD's on a PC is NOT generally good (flicker and stuff, I know, I do
> it sometimes).
got a 17 inch monitor already...
and watching dvds isn't that bad on the pc
PS2's DVD is better anyway.
dunno about that....haven't seen a dvd on a ps2
Plus, what are you
> using at the moment, haven't you got a PC already?
yeah my desktop at home is a p2 233, 32 mb ram, voodoo2
my laptop is a p2 366, 64mb ram, ati rage....
they are both old ...really old
PS2:
> Hmmm....Metal Gear 2....Final Fantasy X.....Final Fantasy IX....it's
> backwards compatible....it has over 230 current games in production
> or on the shelf and a back catalogue of over 400 PSX games....it's
> nicer looking than a PC....
i don't actually want that many psx 1 games otherwise i would have got a psx...
okay here are points for the pc....
where are you gonna get that good a pc for 400 quid in england....brand new that is
ps2 doesn't have online games yet...
pc has loadsa games too and the fact that i already have a big collection means that i have plenty to keep me entertained...
i can do other stuff other than games
i don't have to get any of this memory card stuff...
nor do i have to get that many other extras....
you may go on about upgrading the computer but for 400 quid who cares...
games are cheaper for the pc....(i mean 45 quid for a ps2 game in a shop...that's tight)...
but i still really want a ps2....for many reasons too...
but reply to this post fantasy meister...i would like to see what else will persuade me to get a ps2 instead of the pc
I only got an A in Geography, but that was mainly fjords and platetectonics...
> What's the weather like in Japan at the moment anyway, do you
> actually live in Hong Kong or somewhere else? Is your dad posted
> there or are YOU posted there?

Chat away...
But everyone who's bought a PS2 around here, with VERY few exceptions, says that they don't regret it.
