According to the region X boffs this is because my TV is not NTSC compatible.....any of you good peeps out there no if there's a way round this apart from buying another TV?

OK, I bought what was called a fully loaded scart lead from Dixons, this scart fitted into my TV which is a Toshiba and around 5-6 years old. My TV only has 1 scart connector on it.
Not sure what you meant by your point 1?
The scart is permanently connected up...has no power on it or anything.....neither does it play region 2 DVD's with that famous green blur on it either.....plays them nice and crisp....but just won't display colour on region 1 DVD's....does play the sound tho!
Any idea's?

If you are plugging it into a Scart compatible TV, it

Hope that helps.

OK, that comment is false, I have a true RGB Scart cable and it does have these little connectors on it, so forget that. It could still be the fact that your cable is not true RGB, but there are more definate ways to find out, and here they are;
1) When you turn your PS2 on with the SCART cable turned on, if it does then it is a true RGB SCART cable, Composite and S-VHS signals will not do this.
2) If you TV has an RGB mode (both my Sony and Hitachi TVs do, then you should get a picture with a true RGB Scart cable, if it isn't you will get the sound but no picture.
If you are plugging it into a Scart compatible TV, it should also be NTSC compatible, which would point to your cable, unless your TV is a very rare breed.
Hope that helps.
i dont see the point in buying one.
the new action replay is out - action replay 2 v2.
not only does it have updated codes, but it has a built in region x and memory manager.
it costs £29.99 which is only £10 more than region X on its own.

The black and white screen could also be caused by the lead not being TRUE RGB, rather a composite signal being put through an RGB connector. A friend of mine bought what he thought was a scart lead, but got black and white pictures. When he used my scart lead the picture was ok.
What TV do you have? Is it quite a new model? If so, I doubt it is anything to do with the TV.
Does the scart connector have 3 sockets on it which you plug the lead into? If so it is not a true scart lead.
Good luck! =)
