It's not, unfortunately.
It only takes one manufacturer to refuse permission for their cars to be damaged, and that rules it out for everyone.
The PGR series had damage, but (a) it's minimal, superficial damage which doesn't affect car handling and is therefore irrelevant, and (b) the game doesn't have anywhere near the number of manufacturers.
Okay, they could get around it by excluding those manufacturers from the game. But suppose those manufacturers are Honda, Nissan and Ford? You immediately slash a large quantity of vehicles out of the game, which almost makes it "just another racer".
I want crash damage - and so does Yamauchi - but I'll gladly do without it to have the larger number of cars. After all, the GT series is about the racing, not the damage.

PGR uses Nissan, Honda, Ford, Mitsibushi, TVR, Subaru, Chevrolet and some other manufacturers. These manufacturers provide GT with the majority of its cars, so the loss of cars would, I think, be minimal. And look at PGR, it has just over 100 cars which I reckon is more than enough, and it is by no means "just another racer".

It's better than having none at all.
> (b) the game doesn't have anywhere near the number of manufacturers.
There may be a heck of a lot less cars in PGR, but the number of manufacturers remain almost the same.

Yes the developers are so lazy, all they do is painstakingly photograph every single car in the game, getting every single aspect just right and realistic for the gamer. Tsk tsk Polyphony Digital are so lazy.
> All I want is Aston Martins. And a Sherman tank.
That would be funny, especially if it could fire.
"Whatchya mean, no car damage?"
huh i didn't do anything wrong did i??
