September, Microsoft hit back claiming they were number one in Europe and America..., November Nintendo hit back saying they were selling the best in the Christmas period....
January Nintendo slashed at Microsoft with the "We're number 2 in the world" whilst Microsoft said "and we're number 1 by miles in Europe"....
CHILDREN PLEASE... Who gives a flying chimney who is number 2? It's hardly the coolest title to have, "The worlds second most popular console"... out of 3... it's pathetic! But it is because of this cat fight that has held Microsoft back.
You see Nintendo are a niche company, they are popular with the younger generation (After visiting a school today (innocently) I discovered the most popular console was the Gamecube) and have their own special hardcore fan base (us lot). Microsoft are not in this war to fight battles with the "niche company", Gates and co. are here to destroy Sony... you compete most directly with them.... you want to muscle the company that has a console that doubles as a mini-PC out of the market......
So stop pi$sing about with Nintendo and sort yourself out!
Aha looks like they have. Microsoft have announced that they MAY not go backwards compatible, it obviously worries them not that Nintendo's next system does play older games.... Microsoft also confirmed what the system offers in the form of hard drive etc... all depends on what SONY does. Okay, sounds pretty stupid that Microsoft need Sony to design their stratagy but this way Microsoft can fight Sony head on.
Good sod off, leave the little company to the niche fan base.
Wahoo World's third most popular console here we come!
Actually whats the point in mentioned Timesplitters it was released on the Gamecube at the same time anyway,
And these games are mostly delayed due to exclusive deals done by other companies....
Nintendo do the same deals too.
Now I know most of those probably will end up on the Gamecube at some point, but let's just say I'm not a fan of 6 month delays either.
I'd rather be playing new games than old games.
I'm just trying to point out that Microsoft shouldn't be fighting a war with Nintendo...
I don't care about third party support... we get loads of it... not as much as the PS2 but hey we don't need that much because we have a larger first and second party userbase.
I want Microsoft and Sony to go at it... that way one of those companies will fall and Nintendo can live on... Sony was pretty unscathed at this round because Nintendo and Microsoft were too busy fighting...

I'd much rather play Goldeneye and Super Mario Kart on my Gamecube than some crappy old Game Boy games on my GBA.
We might have the best taste in games, but we have to buy another console to get good multiformat games once in a while. Which sucks. If you only have a GC. So being part of the "niche group" is hardly a positive thing.
And besides Nintendo have been creating backwards compatible systems since 1995
I think it's a great idea because it is an end to the days of having piles of ancient systems around just to play old stuff.
