September, Microsoft hit back claiming they were number one in Europe and America..., November Nintendo hit back saying they were selling the best in the Christmas period....
January Nintendo slashed at Microsoft with the "We're number 2 in the world" whilst Microsoft said "and we're number 1 by miles in Europe"....
CHILDREN PLEASE... Who gives a flying chimney who is number 2? It's hardly the coolest title to have, "The worlds second most popular console"... out of 3... it's pathetic! But it is because of this cat fight that has held Microsoft back.
You see Nintendo are a niche company, they are popular with the younger generation (After visiting a school today (innocently) I discovered the most popular console was the Gamecube) and have their own special hardcore fan base (us lot). Microsoft are not in this war to fight battles with the "niche company", Gates and co. are here to destroy Sony... you compete most directly with them.... you want to muscle the company that has a console that doubles as a mini-PC out of the market......
So stop pi$sing about with Nintendo and sort yourself out!
Aha looks like they have. Microsoft have announced that they MAY not go backwards compatible, it obviously worries them not that Nintendo's next system does play older games.... Microsoft also confirmed what the system offers in the form of hard drive etc... all depends on what SONY does. Okay, sounds pretty stupid that Microsoft need Sony to design their stratagy but this way Microsoft can fight Sony head on.
Good sod off, leave the little company to the niche fan base.
Wahoo World's third most popular console here we come!
I'm sure they had meetings with Todd McFarlane over Spawn as well! That doesn't mean McFarlane had to publish the game....

Tell me one game.

For the first week then the game dissapeared off the charts.

You what? You idiot, Nintendo published Soul Calibur 2 on the Gamecube because it had a Nintendo character in it... Nintendo published it so therefore Nintendo get a cut of the games profits....
Namco are getting EA to publish R-Racing Evolution in Europe for Gamecube.
Nintendo and Namco had meetings regarding the way Link would be included into Soul Calbur, look at the credits Nintendo employee's even helped design the bloody character.
It was a special deal between the 2 companies.

And GTA:Vice City was a massive hit in Japan, outselling everything when it was released... just like in Europe and the US.
So you don't call it, when Nintendo offered Squaresoft money to make a Final Fantasy game exclusive for the Gamecube, a deal?
Hitman 3 could well be due for the Gamecube.
Hitman 3, Driver 3, GTA... only really sell well in America and Europe.
Nintendo own 2 team Silicon Knights, 3 team Camelot, 2 team Retro Studio's, 3 team Camelot, 2 team Intelligent studio's, 3 team HAL, 6 team EAD, 1 team NSTC, 1 team SKIP, 4 team Games Freak etc... etc... there are more and some I don't even know.
Of course there is Hudson with special bomberman games, Bloody Roar titles and Mario Party.
Deals with Amusement Vision regarding Monkey Ball and F Zero.
Resident Evil 2 and 3 are good games just old. Dead Aim hardly sold.
Deal with Activision for Lost Kingdoms.
Namco deals with the Tales series, Pac Man, Soul Calibur, Baton Kateos, Donkey Konga, Starfox 2.
Konami's Metal Gear Solid deal will hopefully lead into a very good new relationship for the 2 companies from now on in.
Nintendo's special realtionship with Factor 5 including the Rogue Squadron series and Pilotwings.
Nintendo have a close friendship with Ubi-soft who released RAyman 3 earlier last year a month before the other systems.
Activision also release all their games for Nintendo.
As does EA
Sonic Teams Sonic games, Billy Hatcher, Phantasy Star Online etc...
Nintendo have tonnes of third party support... as you rightly said not nearly as much as Sony... but tonnes.
That's my point... Nintendo make their own system sellers... as soon as a game becomes multi-format it no longer becomes the system seller it once was. I'm betting GTA 4 or whatever will not sell nearly as much PS2's as the other 2 were released for X-box.
> Nintendo published Soul CAlibur 2 but I'm sure you knew that.
Namco, EA *and* Nintendo published SC2. If Nintendo hadn't published SC2 on the GC it might not have been released, otherwise why didn't Namco do it themselves? Nintendo couldn't afford to let that one go.
And I should hope Bell doesn't need your opinions to prop up his 'argument'. :-)

I thinking he's saying 4 player is irrelevant to most people (other than those with large families or friends who never go away)

Chess!

If you can call Resident Evil 2 and 3 on the Gamecube any good I will kill you.

There were special characters in all versions of the game. Not as high profile ones as Link, admittedly, but then, some people don't like Link.
> Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles is still a big name game whether or

I never said I didn't like Final Fantasy games. I didn't give an opinion. I stated a fact: Nintendo, AND Microsoft and Sony, for that matter, will put money into games they think are system-sellers. Which is what has happened with Crystal Chronicles. Which is why this is hardly an exclusivity deal, or even a deal, which is what I thought we were discussing.

I don't think there are massive amounts of first and second party games for the Gamecube. More than other consoles, yes, and probably of better quality also, but there aren't MASSIVE amounts. And these third party games are hardly system sellers in the way Driv3r and Hitman 3 could be. They may be good, but they don't attract in the way titles Gamecube is missing out on do. Which is MY point.
