September, Microsoft hit back claiming they were number one in Europe and America..., November Nintendo hit back saying they were selling the best in the Christmas period....
January Nintendo slashed at Microsoft with the "We're number 2 in the world" whilst Microsoft said "and we're number 1 by miles in Europe"....
CHILDREN PLEASE... Who gives a flying chimney who is number 2? It's hardly the coolest title to have, "The worlds second most popular console"... out of 3... it's pathetic! But it is because of this cat fight that has held Microsoft back.
You see Nintendo are a niche company, they are popular with the younger generation (After visiting a school today (innocently) I discovered the most popular console was the Gamecube) and have their own special hardcore fan base (us lot). Microsoft are not in this war to fight battles with the "niche company", Gates and co. are here to destroy Sony... you compete most directly with them.... you want to muscle the company that has a console that doubles as a mini-PC out of the market......
So stop pi$sing about with Nintendo and sort yourself out!
Aha looks like they have. Microsoft have announced that they MAY not go backwards compatible, it obviously worries them not that Nintendo's next system does play older games.... Microsoft also confirmed what the system offers in the form of hard drive etc... all depends on what SONY does. Okay, sounds pretty stupid that Microsoft need Sony to design their stratagy but this way Microsoft can fight Sony head on.
Good sod off, leave the little company to the niche fan base.
Wahoo World's third most popular console here we come!
well they say it has and they say it hasn't...
It's very odd.
As for the Capcom 5 AJ, if you paid any attention, Killer 7 is being release LATER on the PS2 due to an exclusivity deal.
If you can call Resident Evil: Dead Aim any good I will kill you.
Nintendo published Soul CAlibur 2 but I'm sure you knew that. They also discussed the exclusive character of Link in an attempt to make Soul Calibur 2 a very special Nintendo game.
AJ you read wrong Burnout 3 and Timesplitters 3 have not been confirmed for any console yet and Free Radical Design commented in an interview that their favourite system is Nintendo's.
Belldandy the argument is about third party support releasing stuff first for other systems, it was Nintendo's fault TS2 was delayed not the third party.
N-Space is not a Nintendo second party.
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles is still a big name game whether or not you like it.
Throw in Monkey Ball, most Sonic games, Billy Hatcher, MGS: TS, Tales of Symphonia, Rogue Squadron etc... etc... and you have plenty of third party games that go along side Nintendo's massive first and second party line up.
Which is my point.

Haha. You really don't have a clue what you're warbling on about, do you? If you can name a game that plays better in 2-player than it does in 4-player, then I'd like to hear of it. 4-player is generally better than 2-player because as more people can be involved, the game is usually more exciting. Desperate? Heh.
And the irony is, you've kind of staged a 'desperate' argument of your own.
"TimeSplitters 2 is better because it has a 4-player, which generally makes games more fun and exciting, and therefore better."
"NO IT ISN'T!"
"How not?"
"It just isn't!"
Bell, you should be a comedian. Seriously.

Er, this is Europe. And a very desperate point Tiltawhirl, kinda like arguing Timesplitters 2 was "better" based on it having a 4 player mode.
As someone has said earlier, multiplayer is fine when you have access to people who love gaming. Most of my gaming is done late at night when all I want to do is sit down and relax, not compete and have to concentrate a great deal.
In the recent Edge magazine (one with PSX on cover) there is a feature about a company researching how games are played in Japan, USA and Europe, and a major finding of it was that in Japan gamers still prefer single player style games. Where a group met to play they were more likely to play a single player game and encourage each other or compete with times etc than to compete against each other. In the USA and Europe gamers in groups were more likely to want to compete against each other but a majority of people still preferred single player gaming.

It did in the US.
It's the same reason I'll never buy Mario Kart:DD, my friends are just not committed enough to gaming... I'd never be able to get more than a couple of games out of them.

Which is. "A special deal" hardly explains much.

No, but it was stated that it wouldn't appear on Gamecube. Maybe false information, but information I read online anyway. Ditto for TS3.
> Capcom's production studio 5 temporary exclusive deals
Half of which have actually broken down. 5 temporary exclusives has turned into 3 current exclusives (which could be changed), one multiformat and one canned title.
> The Resident Evil deal
Of which only two games are actually new. Whereas Sony get two other Resi games anyway (Dead Aim and Outbreak).
> Geist - Some exclusivity deal of some sorts
I thought it was made by N-Space, who are a Nintendo second party, are they not? Which of course would explain exclusivity.
> Sonic Heroes - Special early release with GBA-GC connection
No.

Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft all fund companies if the game looks like a system seller.

But at the end of the day Timesplitters 2 was on the shelf for PS2 and Xbox but not Gamecube...
Sonic Heroes also does not have an early release on Gamecube, it is all formats release this Friday.
Die Hard Vendetta, yeah it was exclusive but I doubt anyone cared...
